    Question Relocating in UK Chester

    Hi All,

My name is Peter Im a Filipino and a new member of this forum. I hope anyone could give me an advice, I am considering a relocation package with my company, they will help me with my first one month stay in Chester but I dont know if this is a good move. May someone advice me what would be a good salary in chester to have a decent way of living I am married with one kid less than a year old.

Should I consider salary of 2.5 GBP to 2.7GBP all expenses will be deducted in my salary (e.g. food, rent, tax, electric etc.). Would it be enough to live a decent life in chester? Please help to give an advice if you have any insight would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    -pete

£2.50 or £2.70 that won't buy you a Happy meal in McDonalds

    Hello Peter,

Are you in the right forum?
    Where are you currently living?
What type of visa will your company support?
What salary is being offered, and does that meet UKBA requirements?

Have you done any research on UK life / cost of living etc ?

    What are you motives?

    Hi Terpe,

I dont know if this is the right forum.. Im just new here and want to gain more info about UK. I am currently living in Singapore and the VISA that my company will provide is a working VISA 2years validity (I cannot mention the company as this might be a confidential), salary was stated earlier as 2,500 -2,700gbp.
I just want to know if that salary would have decent life for a family. I tried to do a research mostly datas and stats in UK cost of living however, hearing from people who live and experience life in UK will be more realiable source of knowledge.

Hope someone could advice me thanks!

Well IMO SGD2000 per month certainly wouldn't be enough to live. Especially given the rocketing costs of accomodation
SGD4500 seems a little better, but as an ex-pat I would hope my company would provide me with free accommodation at that salary level, plus schooling for the child.

Thanks for the info. Terpe appreciate it, well unfortunately my company will only provide salary and other expense will be on me. In that case Do you think 2,700 gdp will suffice a for a standard living in chester?

I feel you need to question much more the conditions under which your company is proposing your short-term transfer.
In principle it doesn't fit existing rules.

The HR folks in the UK branch of your company will be fully updated on requirements and will be able to answer all your questions.
What special skills are you bringing that means the post cannot be filled by a settled worker already here in UK?

How long have you been employed by your employer in your current position?

Are you sure the contract will be for 2 years? I'm not aware of a working permit such as that.

From the limited information you have given GBP2700 per month will not be anywhere near enough.

there is no special skill anyone can do it as long as they have experience, this is an expansion of a company into UK, so they need SME to train people and work with them.
