Me too.
Very moving and thought-provoking.
Makes me think of my dad, and wishing that he was still here to tell me some of his war stories.
It will be on BBC iPlayer later

Short clip
My dad was in the RAF at the time, his commanding officer was Guy Gibson, apart from spending most of his time in Egypt, he was brought back to England to paint the Lancasters for that particular mission, I thing the reason was because he had served his apprenticeship as a painter and decorater/signwriter before joining the RAF.![]()
Wow ! Definitely a connection there then.
My dad joined the RN in 1938 at 15 years old and stayed in until 1968.![]()
I went to RAF East Kirkby in Lincs a few years ago and had the privilege of seeing the Lanc taxi along the airstrip. The noise it made was phenomenal.
It was a cracking day out; the control tower was strangely eerie with the mannequins in uniform and the recorded radio chatter. It felt haunted.
Link is here http://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/ for anyone wanting to visit or information about the missions for example 'the average age of air crew, each man a volunteer, was 22 and not even 1 in 4 completed their first tour of 30 operations.'
