    Employment for my wife?

    Hi guys,
How important is it that my wife to be has employment guarenteed when she arrives here?
I my self can support her with out any work. I would like to find her some employment in my country area, but seems pointless trying to ask around until I know for sure when she will arrive.

We plan to have a family in a short time so it would be just 6 months may be of work.
Would her visa application be looked as negative is she says " no employment guarenteed, but plan to look for employment with my husband when I arrive and have sorted out some kind of CRB"?

    Many thanks

    John

Has your wife been granted a Settlement visa? The new Settlement visa requirements ie. English and new Life in the UK tests are going to be required by October. So, if you can get your wife over before the cut off time, do that pronto!
She does not have to have a job. I am not aware that is a requirement? Who told you? I know that UKBA (soon to be handled by the Home Office) requires the sponsor/spouse to have a minimum income of GBP 18,600 to qualify to bring over a spouse.

John, there is no requirement that your wife has any employment at all. UKBA will not have any interest and it does not provide any any weight to the visa application.

Interesting though as it does ask if you plan to work in the UK in the visa application from my recollection. We answered no as we can support ourselves without her working and we have no firm plans regarding her working yet...
