Just be careful in the long grass.

World's largest venomous snake...King Cobra, up to 15 feet.

    .

The commoner 'small' Philippines Cobra might just decide to cuddle up next to you in the middle of the night.....not that I'd want to alarm you.

    .

    .
Then there's the Rabid dogs, and Coconuts falling on your head.

Ive seen 3 Cobra`s and one python in our garden since living here..Oh and a smaller snake eating a frog in a tree.
Also..Lots of mice..Some of them as big as rats.. Thats probably the reason for the odd snake.

How about Ants. Put your foot in the wrong place and have them swarming up your leg and biting you to death

Best thing to do is walk around with heavy footsteps.. The vibration makes them run fast in the opposite direction.. Problems may begin when they have no escape route.

There are redback spiders which have venom that is toxic to humans. Fortunately they are not common in our area. Seems they only time that you are likely to see one is in Bohol.
Plenty of evil pests in our area but my Jack Russel will kill anything that moves. Our 74kg Rottweiler is petrified of snakes!

    How about those poisonous politicians

Seriously though, I would have thought mosquitos still the biggest pest (threat)
Fred is there usually any dengue in Bohol?

I always watch my step, watch where I sit and watch out when I reach for my beer.

I'm surprised about the big snakes, i have never seen anything except dead in the road. When i was living in Samar i would try and look for snakes but never found one. It sometimes felt like there was no wildlife at all. What used to be a problem for us was the big centipede which can give a nasty bite. They would always get into the house. I don't know how big they are in Bohol, i did see small ones when i was there in March.

The Python we found was just a baby..Only about 6 foot long..
The labourer tried to sell it to a tourist place up the road..They were not interested so he ate it.
The Cobra in my estimation was also about 6 foot long.. When it heard me walking towards it,it got away at speed over two brick walls..
I got to thinking that if it had chased after me,I would have had no chance..
They dont only bite..They spit..aiming at your eyes apparently.
No anti venom in Bohol I`m told.

steve you got no idea of the amount of creepy crawlys mate it freaks me out sometimes one of the downsides of living here I guess .I go through a tin of spray every week in my house tiny little ants that appear from knowwhere the minute you spill or drop anything on the floor they swarm all over the place .I woke up in the middle of the night to a dwarf tarantula on the floor in my bedroom. The mosquitos are the worse in my opinion I get bitten many times when i go out yet my g f never gets touched .Despite the fact that i,ve put fine mesh on every window the bugs still manage to get in.cockroaches are in every house in the philippines it seems another of my pet hates ive got sticky paper around the place but had to give up on that coz ma chihuahua kept getting mangled up in the paper hahaha we get lots of frogs here too don,t mind them plus the usual gheckos which are harmless .not seen any snakes yet and I dont want to either lol I bought 4 chickens and had a coup built 2 weeks ago and ive just got rid of them because they attracted millions of flies I was shocked at the amount of flies on the the chicken ..... below the coup so I thought bugger that .

Only snakes I ever saw were squashed in the road thankfully. Did contract dengue just before our wedding which meant 4days on a drip in the hospital. Unfortunately their most active time coincides with the sunset and SMB o'clock. Saw much worse under the water (jellyfish, stonefish, fire coral) and of course the most dangerous, loose suicidal azkal dogs....

i prefer to believe the owners of the well known expression when they say locally sourced fresh beef. anything else is just far too much information.

I saw a programe on tv back along where these Africans were catching millions of mosquito type of insects which were swarming. There were so many that they were making burgers out of them, cooking and selling them. ...... yuk..... but I am sure very tasty and like your meal worms Fred, full of protein
