whoever your txtmate here send him/her a smart roaming. It will cost you 1 peso or free from your free txt. But, I think you can use chikka now to txt UK or vice versa.

Chikka costs the receiver in uk 25p or 23(ish)peso per txt.
if you have a snazzy phone, install googlechat - and there is a gateway to chikka.
that way its free for you (assuming you have a data bundle)
