It's because English language in the Philippines is based on American English. Lots of differences.

For example, I say "elevator" you say "lift"..I say "aluminum" you say "aluminium"..I say "trailer" you say "caravan"..I say "french fries" you say "chips"..I say "chips" you say "crisps"..I say "driver's license" you say "driving license"..I say "vacation" you say "holiday"..and there are more!
