    long stop over at airports

who has ever stopped off at Guangzhou China, lots of reviews say its rubbish, but what are your thoughts, the flight is cheap but a long stay over so cheap might not be good this time

how long is the stopover? yes reviews seem pretty bad -probably makes manila airport seem good when it has already been declared worst airport in the world ,what about the Etihad /pal flights for October?

longest stopover we had was in Dubai-9hrs and even though we got free hotel /transfer -by the time we got there and the hassle involved -it would probably have been better just to stay in airport .

Not a very good airport for transferring.I only did the 1 time and proved to be quite lengthy.Every where you go there through transfer there are cameras pointed at you and people watching you.

They also go through ALL of your hand baggage again piece by piece and you get another full body pat down all the while there is a camera staring right at you. Those chinese are a funny bunch

If you're ever left "stranded" at ANY airport, then Singapore's the ideal place! Unbeatable for luxurious surroundings ... and there're even comfortable, indoor facilities available.

Steve, China is what it is. I can't see Guangzhou being any different to other parts I have seen here. If you have a longer than normal stop over 'and' are allowed outside (which I am not sure if allowed) then treat it as an eye opener. It is very different to the Philippines and I think Hong Kong where you have been before. I don't know what the city is like, big by the looks on Google, I would treat it as a new experience. China is a strange place but also fun to be an observer for a few hours.
If you are restricted to the airport.... good luck lol
If you want your dreams to come true ...... first you have to wake up

From June of 2013, passport holders of 45 countries and regions will be granted a visa-free stay of up to 72 hours when taking an international transfer via Guangzhou Baiyun Airport.
    Read details about 72-Hour Visa-Free Transit. http://www.travelchinaguide.com/city...ou/airport.htm

Very pleasing to hear Arthur, we will be stopping there for 4 hours in August on our way back from Australia and I was wondering how it was we would find it.

Last time I was at Changi it was an RAF base and I was there with my dad watching some inter-services sports.
