Looks like opinions are divided on this one. I find him a bit like a fungus in that he grows on you. Didn't like him to start with, but now I find him hilarious. Once you cast aside the tabloids portrayal of him and listen to what he says and his command of the English language, I think he's very intelligent and funny.
He'd have probably written that a damn site more eloquently than I ever could as well
