Neighbours want Qatadas Family Out

Abu Qatada’s neighbours want his family to move out of their northwest London neighbourhood and join him in Jordan.

The radical cleric’s wife and four children are still living in a five-bedroom taxpayer-funded house in Stanmore, thought to be worth £500,000.

But residents say they want them out and are worried having them on their street could slash their house prices.

One neighbour is reportedly moving out of the area because he had “had enough” of the chaos the Qatadas have brought with them.

There has been a continuous police presence since the family were secretly moved last December and protesters from the English Defence League have turned up on their doorstep.

One man, who only gave his name as Nick, said: “Nobody wants them here. I think they should join him in Jordan. It’s ridiculous the amount of money that has already been spent on them.

“People are going to food banks and losing their homes left, right and centre and they are living the life of Riley on taxpayers’ money. Qatada was off his rocker but he still managed to get a house worth £500,000 when everyone else works their backside off.”

Another neighbour added: “We just want them out. Everyone is worried the value of their house will go down while they are there.”

It was reported that locals had started a petition and were threatening to stop paying council tax if the family were not evicted. That petition had been handed into Harrow Council, one neighbour was reported as saying.

But a Harrow Council spokesman said: “We have no record of any petition.”

I must admit i had until reading the above, due only to all the media attention and Theresa May, thought that he was a serious threat. I would hate to think that Qatada and his family were being treated unfairly IF HE WASNT GUILTY.

Whatever the rights and wrongs, WE the voting public have the right to decide who we wish to have living in this country with us and who we finance out of our taxes.

I would hazard a guess that the vast majority of voters would vote to see him and his tribe GONE.

I cant say that i agree with you....IMHO its good that someone prints other views. I am not saying that the lady who wrote the article is right BUT it does seem VERY strange that Qatada was never charged with anything (such as inciting racial hatred, terrorism etc) since he has been living here. I do however believe in free speech and it seems Qatada has in the past exercised that right to its extreme, but then that should NOT be a crime.

My gut feeling is we are probably well rid of the man, but it does concern me that the reason he left may be based on false accusation as he was never charged with any crime here in the UK. Why is that?

I'm sure MI5 and MI6 wouldn't waste their resources, and they are not going to share their information with us (thankfully).

Some may call it freedom of speech, others would call occupying a whole street on a regular basis to preach hatred about US, taking the piss.

I challenge any non-muslim British Caucasian to try to emulate that behaviour and see how long it is tolerated.

Our governments have allowed these horrible parasites, haters of all things Christian and Western, to get away with biting the hand that feeds them for far too long.

This man has abused our hospitality from the day he arrived in this country and has never contributed to the upkeep of his family. Taxpayers have been burdened with a bill for him and his family aswell as an enormous security and legal bill that goes in to 7 figures.
Surely we don't need The Guardian The Mail or any other paper to realise that his continuing presence here is against the public good.
His mum wants him back so lets make her extra happy and send his family back as well.

What kind of message does this whole debacle send out to the rest of the world, whom we're (well, our governments) normally so eager to impress ?
