    RIP Alan Whicker

Journalist and broadcaster Alan Whicker has died at the age of 87 after suffering from bronchial pneumonia.

His spokeswoman said he died in the early hours of Friday morning at his home in Jersey.

With a TV career that stretched nearly six decades, he was best known for his long-running documentary series, Whicker's World.

The show, which ran from 1959 to 1988 on both the BBC and ITV, saw him travel all over the world.

    RIP Mr. Whicker.

I'm glad he had a good long life anyway.

Very much a part of my generation's 'growing up' and education.

I always admired the way he could talk to anyone, be it crowned heads or the 'common' person, a great loss to the journalistic world RIP

Yes Steve, to me that was his key. He was such a relaxed person and was very charming with all those he met.

    RIP Alan Wicker.
I really enjoyed his travels and his commentary.

I always thought he made a special effort to find those true eccentrics.

He also served in Italy as a journalist during the second world war, all through the Italian campaign. RIP Alan we will miss you. Just to add, he did a TV prog where he retraced his steps through Italy.
