its called sniping--i do it sometimes. just load up the max bid your prepared to pay--but dont send it in till the last few seconds. and make it an odd amount--with pounds and pence--.

but you may well win and pay a lesser amount--if the previoius highest bid is much lower. try it next time--its fun to see if someone pips you.
