I would say it's quite likely to happen.

It only took a few years to ban leaded petrol. I have no idea what the current state of 'green' cars are - but if the government wanted to make everyone use lpg, i bet they could do it in 5yrs...

since I don't have a car, I'm little bothered by the fuss but it does seem to be more words than actions..

They should try using coconut oil as alternatives if they wanting to achieved greener. I believed it has less emissions and toxic fumes. The problem is, theres no coconuts here, there might have some in supermarkets but its good for currys only.

Small problem BP and Shell untill they decide to change from mainly supplying and selling oill the uk goverment will not be doing to much the same in the Us and many other western countries.

The West just went to war for petrol and oill so untill they have discovered ways to produce the fuel by alternative ways controlled by the west and the oil companies. Many of the alcohol versions from what i heard/read would take up to much land and would hinder food production so untill made more efficent i doubt much will change.

The tax on oil based fuels supports the European economy, no way would they get rid of that, and we'll still be drilling oil out the ground in 2040, as it will be financially viable to get it from below the ice & deep ocean.

Hybrid cars actually put out more CO2 than the newest petrol only models, especially as the yanks are building hybrid SUV's and the weight makes it worthless

Lim Dems.....Stupid idea.....Cameron plant a tree.....stupid idea......it takes 25 years for 1 tree to grow to be useful to converting CO2, or the equiv as sappling is around 25,000 ....I only see he planted 1....wouldn't even support a hamster in 5 years

    If you think about it.....

    He didn't plant anything really...

The tree was moved from 1 place to another.... It was already there, in existence...
And the chances are it will wither and die because nobody thinks wether the soil and the weather, ie, wind exposure are suitable... Oh, and Cameron's favorites... The Hoodie factor....
