Otherwise it seems to be just a lot of silly people getting their knickers in a twist over nothing (and an OBVIOUS sniping opportunity for all the lefties), rather than addressing the serious and pressing issues in this country, most of which were gifted to the current lot in power by Bliar and his troupe of self-serving clowns.
official complaint may be sent by drum message

Alf Garnet ... now there's a bloke who was British to the core and didn't give a toss about what anyone thought of him.

Funnily enough I remembered a school book called little black Sambo-and it's available today and not banned
Would you be a racist if you bought this book?

I certainly don't discriminate against people based on their colour (obviously) or their racial type (obviously). That IS racism.

The problem is, people call it 'racism' if you make a negative comment about another country or religion.

There really is so much ignorance about the subject now.

Almost as stupid as calling Obama 'black' ....when his mother was Caucasian.

Still waiting for someone from Bongo Bongo land to send in an official complaint

Do they have communications with the normal world in Cloud Cuckoo Land ?

More seriously, I should be grateful if a person from say The Philippines would let us know how they would feel if they were referred to as being from Bongo Bongo Land ?

And, if that term was not intended to convey an offensive inference then what did Bloom mean ?

I don't ever remember seeing or hearing Bongo drums in the R.P.. Only on Black Rap numbers from America played on Karaoke machines..

Try a test. Go to a predominately Afro-Caribbean area and start using it to describe where people come from. You just might find that 'some' think it is offensive.

Of course 'some' people will find the term offensive...just as 'some' people are easily offended by almost anything. Does this mean the rest of the population need to handle them and their sensitivities with kid gloves, change laws, change the whole way of life in a country ?

I certainly don't want to see anybody chanting racist stuff at football matches or racist name-calling. Neither do I want to see white police officers being hacked to death by black youths.

My late fiancee was 'black' . She collected 'Golliwogs' , had a great sense of humour, and also had a good understanding of what racism was and what it wasn't. In other words, just a normal well-rounded person instead of someone with a chip on their shoulder or with a 'victim' mentality.

its the british way of life, i thought imigration conditions require imigrants to get aquainted with the british way of life, get a sense of humour,

the scotsman the irish man and the english man jokes never offended any of these

Neither do I want to see white police officers being hacked to death by black youths.
As I was the deputy investigating officer in the Broadwater Farm riots, I know all about it. (I don't want to see anyone hacked to death by anyone).

To mention the race of some of the assailants in Keith Blakelock's death (those around the body trying to stab it, were not all back) is unnecessarily singling out one group and that I believe is intrinsically racist. The fact that some would not understand that, by doing so, tends to prove they may be racist, even though they may not realise it. Just like the finding that 'institutional racism' exists within the UK police service, albeit that almost all officers would truthfully deny they are racist.

    Thanks for your PM John..

I have encountered racists on a many occasions and not only in the UK.. Their intent is obvious and their language blunt.. I have confronted one or two in the past but now think its best to distance myself from them as it does no good and serves no purpose..
My wife was once attacked in ICELANDS frozen food as she was queuing up to pay whilst with my 4 month old son in his push chair.. I was at work... He kicked her hard in the shin and she went down like a sack of potatoes.. (a 7 Stone sack) He did it for no other reason then being an Asian hater.
I accompanied her to the town for months after in an attempt to track this guy down.. He was extremely lucky that she was unable to point him out..I was shaking with anger and wanted to badly injure this sub human.. You can imagine.

That aside..this Bongo bongo thing is no more than a Prince Phillip type gaffe and to be honest it makes me smile as I cannot see any malicious intent..
As you know..I live in the Philippines very happily... Their laws here are draconian and a foreigner has no rights.. A Filipino can say anything he wishes to a foreigner and there is absolutely nothing that the foreigner can do about it!!
Its their country and I am nothing but a guest..Its up to me to integrate with them..Not visa versa.
The best way to deal with racism is humour..Especially British humour..
It puts everything into perspective..For me anyway.

Kindly don't twist my words or put your own spin on them.

If you're calling me a racist, just do it.

    This baffles me :-

Let's just assume hypothetically that I was on a tube train and robbed at knife point by 4 or 5 bare headed white youths. Would the police press me to state what colour they were or do they rely on CCTV if present to apprehend them ? If they were also all one legged would it be out of order to mention this for fear of upsetting disabled people ?

It appears the part of your post, in which you said, "Neither do I want to see white police officers being hacked to death by black youths." has disappeared !

So I cannot re-read the whole post to see how you can think I 'put my own spin on it.'

Just to make it quite clear: Yes I do think you have racist views. I cannot understand how "Neither do I want to see white police officers being hacked to death by black youths" can be anything else than proof of it, especially as what you said was wrong, in that it was not just black youths involved in the murder. Anyone reading it, without complete knowledge of the facts, would have been lead to believe your distortion of the truth.

Anyway, as you have called me a racist, you can go on ignore.

#41 (2nd sentence of Paragraph 2) ... ... it hasn't, John. Perhaps you should've gone to [the Spanish equivalent of] 'Specsavers'!

OK Graham, maybe another visit to Specsavers (who are in Spain Arthur) is necessary, but nevertheless your comment could have only referred to the murder of Kieth Blakelock, which was committed by a mixture of black, white, mixed race and middle eastern youths and young men probably in the same percentage numbers as represented in the local population.
