    David Frost Dies At 74

Tributes poured in over the weekend to the veteran broacaster who is believed to have suffered a massive heart attack minutes before he was due to deliver a talk to passengers on board the cruise liner, Queen Elizabeth last Saturday evening.

Many of an older generation will still recall his famous interview with disgraced US President, Richard Nixon in 1977.

During a career spanning no fewer than five decades, he's also believed to have interviewed all Prime Ministers ranging from Harold Wilson to the current incumbent. David Cameron was among those who described Frost as one whose technique could be "fearsome ... but, nonetheless, consistently fair" ... adding that he'd always admired Frost for his genial approach.

Mindful of which ... ... the journlist's innate sense of humour is reputed to have inspired the comedy genius of such renowned "late GREATS" as Graham Chapman and Ronnie Barker ... spawned by early 1960s' TV programmes as "That Was The Week, That Was" (or TW3) of which a 24yr-old Frost was the main presenter.

I'm glad you posted this Arthur.
I've always enjoyed David Frost, whatever he's done. He's always be a person of great ethics and I found it fascinated to watch his serious interviews and to wonder at his intellect and ability to pick out the key issues in any argument. Meaning he almost always got the upper hand.

What a shock it was it hear the news.

    RIP David Frost

Thanks for this thread Arthur .

It was indeed a surprise to discover that Sir David Frost suffered a fatal heart attack last Saturday.

He did have a remarkable career. Over 50 years ago he presented the satirical " That Was The Week That Was " ; then " The Frost Report " with the catchphrase " Hello, good evening and welcome ! " ; the 1977 interview with former President Nixon who admitted he had " let down the country " ; more recently " Breakfast with Frost " ; and from 2006 he was on al-Jazeera, with several interesting interviews.

Apparently he interviewed eight Prime Ministers and seven Presidents, in addition to John Lennon, Henry Kissinger, Muhammad Ali, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, the Shah of Iran, Orson Wells, Tennessee Williams, Noel Coward and Norman Mailer during his half century TV career .... amazing ! .

    RIP David Frost.

No offence intended Lyonresh, but may I ask why you felt compelled to post about George Best in a thread about the death of David Frost?
I can't for the life of me see any connection. Maybe I missed something?

Apologies no offence I could have said john Lennon, Neil Armstrong or Ghandi just I was watching the soccer video at the time so really it relates to joining the famous if they are there and there is a Heaven . Oops I better be more careful than just a casual reply or I could make a bad trait for myself.
