Why on earth not? you have the right to cover your face in public for example when an icy wind might be blowing. Its no different...anybody should have the right to wear what they want. Your argument about veiled up people fleeing the country...well maybe a point BUT i have said these people SHOULD be made to show their face for identification purposes ...thats all!

To protect myself against severe weather I might partially cover my face but I'd cerainly not be peering through a half inch slit draped in robes down to my ankles as these religious extremists and fugitives from justice do. For national security and public protection people need to be visible to CCTV cameras. Furthermore it is totally against our British culture and it is a symbol of refusing to integrate.

20 years ago the only veiled up beings you saw were the Saudi princesses arriving at Heathrow and they soon ripped them off before they hit the west end shops. Now it is all over the place as a symbol of extemism

Don't forget to ban people wearing crash helmets in public as well then!

You know perfectly well that people are normally asked (with notices to that effect) to remove crash helmets when entering many premises, but thanks for mentioning it, because the principle is much the same.

The difference is that if I walk into a bank wearing my crash helmet I would be asked to remove it but if a muslim walked in wearing a burqa... mmm now think about it...

Thats a old argument but a true statement. A bit like the sikh not wearing a crash helmet when riding a motorcycle.

If a shopkeeper really feels that women wearing Burqa's are a real threat to his stock then he/she can probably impose the same rules to those wearing crash helmets or hoodies.

we are not arguing about the law in saudi arabia but whether the burqa can be worn in the UK. Here we have the freedom to wear what we want, lets not change it.
