Farage conference speech: 'Give us our country back'

more like give us a vote , it should be compulsory that the citizens of each EU country have a vote every 5yrs whether they want to stay in the EU, it shouldn't be a oneway ticket

Immigration is "the biggest single issue facing this country", Nigel Farage will say today, and only exit from the European Union could prevent it placing further strain on schools, hospitals, housing and wages.

The polls put UKIP ahead of the Liberal Democrats. The issue of immigration from EU countries is almost on a par with economic issues. It is a matter of fact that the country's resources are already overburdened. What is pertinent to members of this forum is the contradictions concerning immigration policy. It is a battle to obtain a single fiancé visa for a Filipina girlfriend and yet there is an open door for all EU citizens. To quote Ebenezer Scrooge from Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol, 'HUMBUG!'

Farage and UKIP say a lot of things that resonate with the public. However if you dig deeper they really don't have any policies on many parts of goverment - i.e. not a clue. I'd love to see UKIP do well, but it is only at the expense of the conservatives, which means UKIP is actually helping the parties they are farthest from on the political spectrum

Cameron needs to switch his party back to traditional conservatism ditching the middle ground and sucking up to the Limp Dems - he should act quickly or else we run the risk of a return to Labour supporter of the sponger, criminal and illegal immigrant

i think the libs and tories are doomed at the next election.

the tories have cut benefits for the working and middle classes, they will vote with their pockets, the changes in child benefit and tax creds will hurt the tories

Thats why Cameron needs to act now. Since they've been out of office Labour have done nothing but show the electorate what a dangerous bunch of shysters they are. Many folks have realised that the economic mire and multicultural dung heap is 100% down to Blair and Brown

I hear you, but I'm not 100% sure of your prediction. There is still time before then. The housing market recovering and the fact that we're out of recession and 'doing OK' (not booming I know) should mean 'middle England' feels a lot more confident with their wallet and purses soon.

Labour needs a new leader, and it needs to dump Ed Balls - I think people see him for what he is. This union thing isn't over yet either. Ed is doing the right thing trying to break the link, but it will break him. I think whoever replaces him will be a union 'lacky' and will spout the wrong messages for the swing voters.

My bet is for another Lib/Con coalition.

Farage is a good orator and has plenty to say, but as Trefor has mentioned, UKIP have no real policies. A UKIP government would be a total disaster, but I'm sure they won't get anywhere near power in a General Election.

But I must admit, I did feel a bit sorry for Farage today. It was supposed to be his big day, with his speech to the conference, but all the headlines are about one of his crackpot members calling a room full of women "sluts" (even if it was in jest)!

UKIP raise serious issues which need to be aired.

Whether they get into power or not, or whether they have a full range of policies, is not important at present. It's their influence that is.

However unfair the EU Freedom of Movement may be, it's a two way street and as an EU citizen you are able to exercise your treaty rights in other EU member countries and have your family members join you (or accompany you) there.
After a period of time living and working in the EU country of your choice with your family member(s) you can return to the UK with them without any involvement with UK immigration rules. (means no Income Threshold, no English Language test, no savings, no job etc etc)

    Food for thought

I`m not too worried about Ukip having no policies except Europe, its the influence their having that`s making the other parties run scared. There is a constant smear campaign going on with the larger parties using their influence on the media and hopefully the electorate will see through it.

The other parties policies have not been so great, foreign policy:
    cock up in Afghanistan,
    cock up in Libya,
    cock up in Egypt,
payoff for a guy we handed over for torture.
sending aid to China and India

The economic policies have not been so great as well, the list can go on and on.
It would be good to take a new broom to the establishment and hopefully employ some real professionals to assist in running the country.

I have a policy on Europe, 1 person leaves here for mainland Europe, 1 person allowed in, so in Spain for instance 50,000 UK citizens living there same amount of Spaniards allowed here.
Also they will have to pay for services and medical help as we have to when we move abroad.

Meanwhile we are expected to congratulate the 'City' for bringing so much prosperity to this country.

    REALLY ?

Every day proving themselves to be nothing more than a bunch of greedy thieving conmen and crooks, who have helped plunge the country into an abyss of debt and humiliation. Then poverty for those who trusted them with their savings and pensions.
