It isn't that bad Joe. ..Their basic is 24k without many of the fringe benefits. ..much better than agency work and much better than minimum wage

The maximum they could earn is 29k whereas as I can earn 51k doing the same hours

That's a bit dodgy Mark. The Poles could go on strike when they realise that your're on 22k more a year than them for the same job.
Or the flip side is that the bosses might think hang on a minute we can have 5 poles for 3 Mark's let's get rid of all the Marks.
Much better that everyone is earning the same for the same job.

They know the score Marco...these new guys are ex agency whom had worked for us for years. The money they are on now is much better than what they were on before..without the worry of no work after Christmas and of course paid holidays and sick leave..all of which they didn't have before.

Our terms and conditions are cast iron, we can't be touched...the only way they could of got around it, would be to close the depot just like they did in other parts of the UK. That loophole has now been closed

We are a dying breed, not many of us left Marco...most of our drivers on these terms (less than 30 of us out of a total of 500 plus employees) are in their late 50s to 60s. Hardly worth closing a depot for.

It's quite the opposite where I am, the depot is expanding hence taking on new drivers and warehousing staff.

Mark, you're much too young to remember the 70s.

I however will now disappear off into a world of youth, flares and chicken in a basket.

You are right Graham but, I got sisters 3,4,5 and 6 years older than me. ...I grew up with all that music not to mention Elvis Presley. Without them there was a good chance music wouldn't of had much of an influence
