Shock, horror ! I've just discovered he's a TOFF :-
The TV historian-turned-MP Tristram Hunt said the PM’s .welfare benefit cuts for the poor would result in a revival of .Victorian workhouses.
Conjuring up visions of Dickensian squalor, Hunt said: ‘Not far from where a young David Cameron went to school at Eton there used to stand a workhouse for the poor of England. Husbands were separated from wives, mothers from children. Victorians disliked the poor.
Clearly, the foppish Hunt is desperately trying to make a name for himself. But was it wise to try to make weary capital out of the fact that .Cameron went to a posh school?
Voters should be reminded of Hunt’s equally grand alma mater. The Labour MP who shies away from his real name of the Hon .Tristram Julian William Hunt — his father being Lord Hunt of .Chesterton — as a boy attended University College School in .Hampstead, North London.
The £15,465-a-year school is part of the Eton Group of 12 independent schools, which constitute the most elite in the country.
Ironically, Hunt’s predecessor as Labour MP in Stoke Central was Mark Fisher, another Old Etonian.
The foolish Hunt certainly knows about Left-wing double standards — having written a biography of Karl Marx’s co-writer Friedrich Engels, which was called The Frock-Coated Communist (available from Amazon at £4.86), which he gave the subtitle The Life And Times Of The .Original Champagne Socialist.
I bet that book is bedtime reading amongst Milibands Marxists and his Guardianista chums in their multi million pound Islington mansions
