I need a explanation Graham. I know its got a board of directors and shareholders. Who are the shareholders? Foreign?. Do they give a monkey/s about the workers?
Well, as the world has now moved 'forward' into this wonderful global economy, I would think that very few employers give a monkeys about their employees....merely seeing them as a business expense...even more likely if the company is foreign owned/managed, I would certainly agree.
All down to basic human nature (ie..greed) and accepted commercial practice (ie...zero morals).
Excellent Graham.
Good evening Joe
I was a Primary School LEA Governor for 5 years, sons been through nursery, infant, junior & now at comprehensive so I'm not wet behind the ears about teachers and what a selfish peculiar breed many are. A good mate is a senior lab tech at a large comprehensive and he keeps me up to speed on the bizarre money wasting goings on.
Another friend and his wife are Doctors they are very comfortably off and unlike your man in Tameside (see Health Tourism thread) just get on with their jobs. I've never discussed money with them nor Health Politics .
There are a lot of excellent Police Officers but I also agree with Jack Straw who said a number prefered to sit around in a “warm police station” rather than going out on the streets to fight crime. I don't need to go into detail about the Back Office I'm Alright Jack three Police Federation representatives in the news this week over the plebgate thing
No, a company is there to make profit, full stop. A company with share holders is a PLC, where people buy shares, i.e. shareholders in order to make a return on their investment. A privately owned company or a limited one is there to make the owners of that company money.
Non profit companies like the John Lewis partnership has partners where everyone in the company owns a fraction of it, and they re-invest the majority of their profits back into the company to expand it, why? to make more money for their partners
To be fair, the majority of people are doing valuable and often extremely skilled work that has taken many years to learn, whether in factories or as 'professionals'.
Our good doctors would for instance have to fashion their own scalpels if it weren't for the skilled 'lesser important' people making them.
Not naff anymore.
Cheat.
Don't you hate it though when somebody immediately quotes you when you've just posted a load of and go back to edit it.
Good thing I don't drink these days.
I'm jumping in here
Teachers have one of the cushiest jobs around,One of my friends is one and she admits it,good pay,12 weeks holiday etc,etc
moving on to the police-many are good cops but there are an ever growing number who can't be arsed-an ex police inspector told me he was glad to retire,I asked why he said the buggers don't want to get their hands dirty,I said what do you mean and he replied that often when call came in the cops would bicker about who's turn it was and 'I've just got myself a coffee now!'
Plus their morale is low-what's the piont in catching some low-life as the lefty judges won't convict them
And dipping into their pensions is really going to boost their morale isnt it Les.?
Good point Andy
The money taken every month from their hard earned salary to invest in their pension, something to look forward to at retirement
The same money that the pension company invest into shares of profit making companies so your pension goes up and you get a better annuity on your plan.
Oh the irony
We all have to share the pain-that's life
morning dedworth, well seeing you never talk to them , l'll give you an idea ..
5yrs at med school
2yrs foundation (fy1 ans fy2)
then the shortest path to getting on the specialist register is
GP 3yrs training
longest
surgery etc 7yrs of training
so the shortest time it takes to earn £67,000 is 10yrs of endless studying, exams and fee's -
the longest 14 long years, oh and it doesnt work out like that, your be lucky to find a ST post every year to carry on training
so the youngest someone could be a GP is 28, that takes a lot of sacrifice and commitment, like teachers its not just a 9 to 5 job
You will be ok Ded come January when your government brings your romaniian friends here. It will put a smile on your face.. Mind you it will keep me in a job more people to treat.
