Strange how some still can't see further than the end of their nose ....surely better to have less pension and keep their jobs than no jobs at all. ...especially if one is not willing to move to a different part of the UK to get work

There are 2.52 million unemployed, how many of those are actually looking for work is unknown, but there are 503,000 job vacancies according to the latest statistics. The highest since 2008

Its the same everywhere as far as jobs are concerned. Its not what you know but who you know and wherever you go in the world its exactly the same.I know of many jobs that come up e.g civil government jobs, council jobs etc which are already filled before they are advertised. You gotta be in with the right bunch. It does not matter about qualifications by enlarge.Lots of companies would much rather use an agency these days so they have no obligation to pay for sickness, holidays and the like.If you actually look at Emplyment agencies there are up 100 fold plus from 10 years ago.

I agree that it is always helpful to "know" the right people. Many employers deal with Employment Agencies these days because it's quicker to recruit temporary (to permanent) employees in this way and easier to "get rid" if the employee turn out to be unsuitable. In my experience, holiday pay is always factored into the hourly rate paid by the employer to the agency who then pay it to the employee.

    Why wouldn't I believe it, don't you

The figures come from the office of national statistics, an independent body

Hang on a second, you asked a question and I answered it. Did you ask me to justify it
If you don't like the answer then ask a different question

I had to leave mainland UK to get a decent job paying decent wages.Every job interview I went to there was at least triple if not quadruple the number of Europeans to British applying for the job and to be honest they some of them were 4 times as qualified too!

It was an employees market only but a few years ago but now unfortunately employers can take their pick from a pool of many Europeans and british [QUOTE=gWaPito;465711]The British folks brown nose is talking is the ones yet to be shipped

No way I've never had to strike over money but I'd strike for a month to protect my pension
I feel sorry for a Police Sergeant mate of mine who's just had his pension terms changed. He says he'll have to work an extra 4 years to get the equivalent pension he was on before.
