    Do we talk too quickly?

its been mentioned a few times from others that i do talk very quick, i dont mean to and yes sometimes when i am excited i do get carried away, but do others,
I have tried to slow my speech down and it works but a few minutes later i am off again
Also mumbling too, i have notice Ems sometimes will ask a question and i will answer and the next minute she will ask again, and on the fourth answer for the same question, it may be a little louder , THERE IS NO NEED TO RAISE YOUR VOICE , well dont ask the same question, was you listening to me anyway or watching Cake boss and talking on face book and also playing a game too, MY EMS CAN MULTITASK SO WELL, but just cant hear me

What gets me is people who speak and write to Filipinos (or other non-Brits) using coloquialisms...as well as talking far too quickly when in conversation with them.

No wonder they (Filipinos) haven't got a clue what the hell is being said, or there are misunderstandings in places like Phils Immigration etc.

    Think about it people.

The award for speaking too quickly must surely go to the Indian nation, we have so much trouble understanding them on the phone ...... In person is just as bad but at least we can attempt to lip read

    Yes indeed Rosie.

Apparently they are supposed to be speaking in English.

Over the last 15 years I had to slow down my speech, and tone down my scouse accent. Sometime though Rayna doesn't hear or understand me, unless the sentence contains the word 'money'.

Yes, I did notice with my worst half that the ears prick up when the 'M' word is mentioned

Hahahahaha...well you do talk fast and mumble a lot! You also do it everytime I'm doing something and I have all my concentration on it! You also can't even answer a yes or no question and instead say a lot of stuff! We both always don't have money so whenever you mention the word "money", I'm always interested about it.

Being a newbie, both on here and in the whole Philippine concept, I have only chatted to, I will say for ease my girl, on the phone a couple of times. Normally the line is so bad I can't hear anything above the odd word, but today it was relatively clear and she still said that she couldn't understand me. I don't think I have a particularly strong accent, but maybe I was talking to fast - I will try slowing down next time.

It doesn`t help that Filipino`s have been taught the US style of English and my wife always calls me "Honey", which I hate.

If we are out somewhere and wants to attract my attention she calls out "H u n", if you can understand how I have written it, in a drawn out way. Gave up protesting now and just accept it.

Filipino`s are very quick talkers, more so then us, but I don't think I talk particularly fast but may not be very clear on pronunciation, more slangy London.

I'm a bit limited on what services I can use as I don't have a landline. I am trying TawagPinas.com I think from memory it's 10.5p and 8p sms. Although as I say the call quality is not good, although she does say its a poor signal where she is.

Just talk slowly and clearly, and don't use SLANG and 'British' expressions.

    Keep it simple.
