I never liked Christmas cakes. A regular cheesecake or madeira cake will always be fine instead. That's why mum-in-law always served me cheesecake or chocolate cake during Christmas since I've been here.

Marzipan..the smell of Christmas....vivid memories of dear Mother making the cake, rolling out the marzipan getting covered in flour....they were the days my friend

My Grandma always put fruitcake (Christmas cake) in a tin with an apple, a year or two later when she opened it the apple had gone and the cake was beautifully moist and delicious!
