orrible smell of hot oil from the car

well yesterday i had this wiff of a oil smell, was it my car or the one that just past us, later on that day the smell came again and yes its our car, a smell of hot oil,
Pound signs was being seen, was it a gasket but which one , could not see any leaks at all but did not want to get under the car in the rain,
So today at work i got the car over the pit and there it was a bloody back plastic bag stuck over the exhaust , thats the smell, so my dinner was spent scrapping it off, but i was happy, its cost me nothing to repair it

How strange........I've had just the same. Not recently, it was some years ago. I noticed it and like you just couldn't figure it out.

Eventually it was my wife who insisted I look underneath the car....and there...a big Tesco carrier bag around my exhaust.
I'll never forget it.............my wife wont let me

Got out had a proper look underneath and there was a branch of a tree wedged underneath my car

can you remember candid camera when they pull into the petrol station with no engine and the other one where they put a massive fuel tank into a mini and refuse to pay when they said fill it up, the good old days

I've had an exhaust that's actually fallen from the car but nothing tops the time when I was driving down the motorway and the back windscreen popped out and flew away.

A couple of years ago my car used to make an annoying noise from under the bonnet when I braked. This went on for months. In the end I took it to the mechanic, he got in the car and asked me to go for a drive so he could hear it. 20 minutes later no noise, so he said if it comes back pop back in... To this day I have never heard the noise again!

Years ago I'd been for a run out in my Dutton kit car, when I smelled burning.

Pulled up. Engine was 'sizzling'. No water AND no oil in it ! She'd blown a core plug too.

Bought a new core plug for about 2p, hammered it in, then filled her up with vital fluids.

Ran like a sewing machine. Can't beat those old Ford 1600GT Cortina motors.

More recently I was hurtling down the outside lane of the A19 dual carriageway at almost 3 figures in one of my V8 TVRs, when there was a loud scraping from the back of the car, and at the same time a familiar-looking wheel overtook me.

Last year my head gasket went and the head was scratched..Water in the engine the lot..
Cost me 35 Quid to get it all re done!!
(and that included new oil)
