On our local ITV news tonight...

Good news for the downtrodden in Goldthorpe...but now I also know where my Tesco 'reduced' shelf has gone.

Listen to the 'compassionate' comments by the former 'Apprentice' contestant.

Not going to bother reading that story, because as soon as I saw "Mirror" I knew it would be anything but subjective, and about as biased as a story in the Mail about asylum seekers.

IF however Thatcher registered property in a tax haven to fiddle the system, then frankly why not?

I was not a fan of her for many reasons, however she couldn't be accused of being hypocritical.
She made it clear she was prepared to use such as private medicine for example, wouldn't apologise for it.......and anyone didn't like it, they could go hang.

It's in character that she'd make sure her very hard earned didn't go to subsidise feckless to buy their Special Brew, cigs and Sky tv to watch all day.

For all the politicians liking to say our taxes go on "health and education (Surely the biggest modern cliche for politicians), they also go on weapons to use in countries which hate us, aid to countries which hate us and send up rockets, and to pay for the lifestyles of generations of scratters whose only contribution to society is the birth rate, crime rate and benefits bill.
Occasionally they might cross our lives by robbing decent people, or twice in the last few months I've been physically attacked when going about my job in the areas of town. Same pieces of debris who it could be said I pay for by working my .... off.

No, SHE wouldn't want her earned to go to them, and anyone criticising this, only do so if you are happy for your money to also go this way.

Thatch can be attacked for many reasons, but not this one. Sorry but I bet many Labour politicians also play the field, and can't blame them either (Except that in their case it is definitely a case of hypocrisy as they're supposed to be for the people)

the poor fiddle benefits face 10yrs in prison the rich fiddle taxes and walk away free

10 years for benefit fraud is absurd when 99% of tax fraudsters walk away with their anonymity intact

I'd love to see a benefit fraudster get 10 years - can you point us towards the examples Joe. Most I read about or see on TV (Saints & Scroungers etc which seems to specialise in featuring Nigerians resident in Croydon) seem to get off with a suspended sentence at the most.

if his figures are right, that tax fraud is 50 times bigger than benefit fraud, then why only chase after the benefit fraudsters

But let’s also get some facts straight. Tax evasion amounts to £70 billion and year and tax avoidance to £25 billion a year. Yes, I know they’re my estimates, but the European Union uses them even if HM Revenue & Customs insists the combined number is a ludicrously low £32 billion a year. In my opinion tax fraud is at least 50 times bigger than benefit fraud.

Let's face it, though ... ... in the [once] Iron Lady's case, there ain't really a lot of point in HMRC raking through a pile of cinders interred in the Royal Chelsea Hospital grounds.

When it comes to reckless money creation, it turns out that China is the king. Over the past five years, Chinese bank assets have grown from about 9 trillion dollars to more than 24 trillion dollars. This has been fueled by the greatest private debt binge that the world has ever seen.

Looks like they've taken a leaf out of Labour's book..........Go ahead..get yourself over there. Go fill your boots

Joe it actually says that from Sept these leeches can be charged under the Fraud Act which carries a max of 10 years but up till then have been pursued under social security legislation which carries a max of seven years.

If you've got time over the next few weeks see if you can dig out any reports of any parasites getting 7 years

The 'maximum' sentence for virtually all crimes is almost never handed down. We all know that. Usually a mere fraction of it.

Tax fraud is now subject to maybe 400 prosecutions a year. The penalties are small. But ten years is being threatened for benefit fraud. The publicity, the sentences and the messaging is all disproportionate and the allocation of resources is all wrong. - See more at: http://www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2....zepH3Dmt.dpuf

Would Brown qualify for a certificate of 'no impediment', I wonder ?

Sorry...just a tongue in cheek comment there.
