Slip, your Fiancee can also be the one to pick up the local CNI from British Embassy if it helps.
She'll need at least 2 ID's to do it.
Maybe helpful.....but I notice you'll be there for quite a long time so maybe time pressures not so critical.

Do be aware that appointments at the Embassy were running at 2 months waiting just before Christmas.
Make sure that your timing for appoinment is done and dusted as soon as you can.
    Just a heads-up

Thanks again... I wanted to rep you, but will have to spread a bit more reputation about before I give you more

I had noticed about the embassy appointments being around two months behind, so keeping an eye on them.

We plan on staying in Manila a couple of days when I arrive. Plan is to exchange CNI then as I dont want to post my copy to her as the post isn't reliable where she is.

    Quick question for today.

On her visa application does she put my surname or hers as we aim to apply after we are married off course. And as her passport is due to run out she is going to apply for a new one in her married name.

Its best to get her passport sorted out first.

Applications must be made in the name of the applicant as it appears on the current valid passport.

So as she plans to get a new passport as soon as we marry with my surname, she should use that on the visa application as we can't submit the visa application until we get the marriage certificate anyway.

Once again a big thank you Terpe.

And Andy she is planning to do the passport as soon as we marry.

I'll ask here as I didn't get a reply in another thread.

Also can we make an appointment at VFS Philippines to submit the documents before we complete them? I was thinking do it online and submit a few days before the appointment. Just I dont know how much waiting time is for the appointments?

Trying to get everything done within the 6 weeks I am there

You need to pay the online visa fee first. After that the ukba will issue you with a reference number to give to the vfs to make your appointment.

Thank you.... Wonder how long the wait time is for appointments though.

Also I am so confused... What forms and documents does my fiance need to take to her VFS appointment? I know we submit the online visa application (is that form VAF4a?) I just want to make sure I get everything right and she doesn't get refused.

She is also asking me to ask how many days after marriage before we can apply our marriage cert authenticated by NSO? Her sister says we have to wait one month after marriage... Which obviously means we cant submit the visa online until we get the marriage certificate....

My head is spinning, so sorry if I am making yours spin too!!!

Oh and while I am here!

How long after submitting the online form is it valid for? I mean can we submit it then get an appointment 4 weeks after?

The VAF-4a form is seperate she must take this with her. As for the how long it takes to get an appointment I dont know. The best thing to do is one step at a time. It took my wife 1 month to get our marriage certificate. You have to wait 1 month after the wedding to get it from the NSO.

Yes she has to take VAF-4A2 as well. As this is your financial paper.

Ah right, thank your again you help is greatly appreciated.

Are these the only forms I need to print? All the other documents she needs to take to support the visa application are things like bank statements and payslips.

Yes, those are the only forms that you need to print. The list of supporting documents that you need to provide is listed in the ukba website and there are lots posted here in the forum as well.

Anyway another one for someone to answer please. Got this message this morning, can you tell me if it is correct... Does she need to change her documents before submitting them?

Basically what I am asking is how long after we get married could we have all the documentation to submit the spouse visa application?

If you're up to speed. .all you'll be waiting for is the nso certificate stating you are married. We could of got that a week after our wedding ceremony. It would of meant handing over 3k to the officiating officer at Las Pinas city hall Metro Manila.

Like I said, we didn't bother coz i was going back home in 2 days.

Anything is possible in the Philippines.

    Good luck

Ok thanks.... Once we are married.... She has to change her passport to her married name as she wants to submit the visa application in that name, and as I have been told on here the visa application has to be in the name that appears on the passport.

So if she is going to wait for that we may as well wait the month for the marriage certificate....

I'll discuss the possibility of fast tracking both with her though.

I am out there for 6 weeks and plan to exchange my CNI the day after I arrive.... So if all goes to plan if we fast track things we could submit the visa application while I am still there..... I know it's unlikely... but then I still have to wait the outcome of the visa submission by which time my 6 weeks off from work will be over and I'll be back to the grindstone!

Slip, why does she have to change her passport to married name? Is her passport expiring very soon?

To understand the correct process of securing 'fast-track' marriage certificate take a look at this forum thread called Advance Endorsement Birth ,Marriage and Death Certificate

If you're seriously planning to make visa application during your 6 week stay then be sure your partner has already secured an English Language Pass Certificate and her TB pass certificate before your arrival.

Also do be reminded that some key documents such as bank statements/payslips must be less than 28 days old.

Hi Terpe.. She is back in Philippines Mid march and plans to do the English test and tv test before I come in May.

On my mobile right now so will check the link about fast tracking when I get home later. I have told her she will have to wait until I return home in June and send her the latest bank statements and payslips..... I don't think she realises quite what the visa entails (or me for that matter!) she keeps saying she remembers get aunt with piles of paperwork and none of this online stuff..... Times are a changing :-/

It's not that bad Slip. ..just get focused. .The requirements are straight forward unless of course your earnings are borderline.
I've done it twice, both spouse and fiancee. No sweat.
You'll be fine. Just be methodical in your preparations. All that is required is pointed out. Unless you haven't got all the documentation, you'll breeze it.

If an half witted truck driver like myself can sort it, any one can.

All I've gotta work out is how to pick the right life partner. ..:-))

If you cant already tell I am in panic mode, I want everything to go right and I know I come across as silly, but I just don't want to get the visa refused because I made some silly little mistake....

You won't Slip because you are here now, before you make the application. Make sure you follow everything to a tee. You can't go wrong. All what's being spelt out here is in the questions and in the supporting notes.

Right just want to confirm about the Ielts test.

Harlene wants to do this when she returns to Philippines mid March. Can I just confirm she goes to http://www.britishcouncil.org/philippines.htm (she wants to book online) then pay (Test Fee Php 8,986.00) And this is approved by UKBA?

Or can some one be so kind to tell me what test and procedure she has to do, it is the general test isn't it?
