LIVERPOOL - In my three long decades of living in the United Kingdom as a community leader and now, as an Immigration Adviser, many people have asked me how the history of Filipinos started in this country.
Many believed that the history of Filipino migration to England started in London when the Filipino national hero, Dr. Jose P Rizal, visited the UK in the year 1888.
The reality however is that since the middle of the 1800s, many Filipinos had already started coming to England.
Their first destination: the city of Liverpool.
