I've noticed quite a few news reports about this on TFC too.
My wife hasn't held a Philippie passport since she got her British one.......she will be getting one in 2014 though.

    My fiancee has lost hers.

Does this mean she should get a replacement as soon as possible ?

Am I right in thinking the latest to receive a new passport is October 2014 ?

If your fiancee's passport got lost, she needs to get a replacement, especially if you both are planning to live here in the UK. Here's the list for the requirements. https://www.dfa.gov.ph/index.php/2013-04-04-07-00-36

    Thanks.

But does she need to get a replacement soon because of these changes.

I dont quite understand why there will be problems with immigration checks in the future.

The Philippine government will completely phase out the old passports by November 2015 to comply to the standards set by International Civil Aviation Organization. Extension for the validity of current passports will only be until October 2014 for those who don't want to renew/replace their passports with the new one. (I'm not really sure though what happens to this extensions because I never did it before).

It will be a problem not getting the new passport for immigration checks in the future because these old passports will be no longer be valid once the phaseout process starts, which is by October 2015.

If your fiancee has lost her passport, she can get replacement for it. The earlier the better as always.

So does this mean "new passports" issued after October 2005 will not be accepted by UK immigration ?

2005??? Do you mean 2015? New passports, which are the e-passports, are the ones that will only be accepted after October 2015. E-passports were first issued from 2009 and if your fiancee will get replacement for the passport she lost now, she doesn't have to worry about it being invalid by October 2015 because since 2009, DFA is issuing e-passports. This article is for those who still have the green and machine readable passports that were issued before 2009.
