Revealed: How 33,000 families were claiming more than £26,000-a-year in handouts before benefits cap was imposed

    • 150 families received more than £850-a-week in welfare payments
    • Ministers say £500-a-week limit sends a clear message to claimants

More vicious Govt cuts Slash it further by stopping them renting privately owned houses and build plenty of austere hostel accommodation blocks. They can be built on the cheap by using Eastern Europeans .

Puke bucket filled rapidly as I watch Episode 2 last night

Did anyone else watch it ? the despicable 12 strong Roma family who were living in squalor moaned that they had houses and better lives in Romania - why don't they go back there.

Thankfully for the rest of the n'er do wells in Benefit St the Romas weren't there long - evicted for non payment of rent after the electricity and gas they were stealing was cut off.

Quite right Malchard - a letter expressing similar sentiments from the Dewsbury Reporter :-

Why are we brow-beaten into submission

    Published on the 14 January

Can someone please explain the difference between say, myself stating that when moving to a new neighbourhood, that I will beg, steal and commit any number of criminal acts, in order to get by – as opposed to a certain number of the new foreign migrants on their way to this country, reported to have stated exactly the same things.

Which of the two cases do you believe the authorities would take action against?

There’s no need to answer that particular question, because we all know what that answer will be, and there lies the problem.

Our lily-livered political “masters” from all parties have been brow-beaten into submission by an alien authority, never countenanced by the British public, to forfeit our sovereign right to decide who can and cannot be allowed into this country.

Now the truth is out there, this government cannot or will not do anything to stop this abuse, now or in the future, to our hospitality.

I predict that eventually the people themselves, will take to the streets if necessary to determine exactly who this country actually belongs to.

Police chief owns a house on Parasite Street - but her tenants WON'T be featuring in Channel 4's parade of scroungers and shoplifters
    • Yvonne Mosquito, 49, bought a property on James Turner Street in 2002
    • The road features in controversial Channel 4 documentary Benefits Street
    • She is deputy police and crime commissioner for West Midlands Police
    • Her own force is investigating after residents boasted about criminality

I won't expand on her amusing name & being a Labour Councillor and Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner - she appears to be a trainee Baroness Amos

I know Andy but it helps me vent my anger - have a good weekend enjoying your new circumstances and don't take them anywhere near James Turner St

James Turner Street used to be on my patch when I was couriering in the inner city.

Compared to other streets in the area, I found it to be pretty sleepy - but this was five years ago, so perhaps times have changed

Previous episodes are available to watch on the C4 website btw.

I watched the first episode and work was never even mentioned
These lowlifes should be made to attend the job center for 40 hours a week
They can spend that time looking for work 6am until 2pm
Joey Barton's comments on twitter were spot on !

I don't think Joey Barton has a right to pontificate to others considering his track record. However, the point he made about benefit claimants being 'banned' from having children is a valid one, although I would go a step further and discontinue child benefit for everyone, not just those on the dole.

He doesn't seem to like Romanian's either. Sound familiar?

If this series produces such a violent reaction in you, why bother to watch it? you could always reach for the off button.

Seems to me the series is about a whole bunch of people who have hit rock bottom and are finding it difficult to get help. Perhaps a good reason for that is these people have little education and so might need more help than others in society. That doesn't mean they are beyond help as most of them would love to lead a normal decent life i am sure.

I admit it is hard to understand sometimes why these people cannot help themselves but that does not mean society should write therm off. I hope the TV series will help people realise how easily someone could get into a bad situation AND perhaps help to get people start to get out of it.

I hope the series educates the naive suckers out there as to the revolting vermin who infest our country and how successive Govts over untold years have financed their criminal, idle & disgusting lifestyles via the barmy benefits system.

Pull the other one if you think the filth featured wish to leave normal decent & law abiding lives

Not Balsall Heath. It's set in Winson Green by the prison.
