Supporting Documents - Evidence to show that you are free to marry or enter into a civil partnershi

My fiancee has never been married, neither have I.

Would it be necessary for her to or me to provide evidence of this?

Affirmation of freedom to marry certificate?

    Thanks
    Joe

    Thanks Pat,

Did your finance also have to bring a similar document from UK?

    We will marry in UK.

    Yes.
You'll need a CNI and your own CENOMAR.

The CNI is a legal requirement, the CENOMAR is not a legal requirement. However, recently many authorities that issue the marriage licence have been demanding a CENOMAR from the foreign party also.
Personally I'd suggest you get one....it's simple and easy to get and will avoid potential delays

Your partner will need to get CENOMAR

A CENOMAR can be ordered online here

The CNI is a Certificate of No Impediment (sometimes called Legal Capacity to Marry)
This certificate provides evidence to officially authorised people that the marriage will be recognised as a valid marriage in both Philippines and the country of the foreign spouse.
You'll need to exchange your UK issued CNI for a 'local' one which must be issued by the British Embassy.

A CENOMAR ( Ceificate of No Marriage Record ) is available from the Philippines National Statistics Office (NSO) and is simply what its name implies.
It is certification issued by the NSO stating that a person has not contracted any marriage within the Philippines.

Timing is important since you'll need to pre-book an appoinment at the Embassy and also because the CNI's have a limited validity.

Here's the latest guidance issued by the British Embassy on Marriage in the Philippines

Regarding documents needed to apply for a Marriage License you should consider having the following:-

    Your birth certificate
    Your passport
    Your C.N.I.
    Your NSO CENOMAR
Your Divorce decree asbsolute (if applicable)

Certificate of 'Pre-Marriage Seminar' (if needed, please check well beforehand)

Her N.S.O. birth certificate (This should be fresh from NSO on latest type of security paper. Check)
Her Passport (or other appropriate ID)
Her Barangay clearance (if needed, please check well beforehand)
Her community tax certificate (often called Cedula)
    Her postal I.D. Address
    Her cENOMAR
Her Parents signed advice form (if under 25 years age)
    Her Parents I.D.

Thanks very much for the comprehensive reply.

We will actually be getting married in UK , all being well.

So do we need the CNI and CENOMAR for the finance visa application process?

I should have made that clearer sorry.

    OK

There's no UKBA mandatory requirement for that although many applicants do include a CENOMAR

Joe ... second time I married, was in the *Phils - before *they introduced this [IMO unecessary] 'CENOMAR' malarkey for the British partner (you still needed a CNI from your local Registrar ... which you then exchanged for the Philippine version at the British Embassy, Manila). But that was it!

However, marrying in Britain, all you'll require is the Certificate of No Impediment ... albeit I think your bride-to-be MAY still need to submit her CENOMAR (or similar document) as proof that she'd never been married previously.

    ok thank you.

In that case I will ask Jenalyn to get the CENOMAR , which she will need anyway when she arrives here.

But I won't submit my certificate of no impediment.
