having spent time with the family in Abu Dhabi and the tv is set up for lots of phils programs, what got me thinking here is the news, i thought being in this country is bad but when you see the news over in the phils and the corruption that is going on, well it does make me think why am i going to live there,

Is there a way you can live happily over then and not being bothered about people wanting to take everything from you, i am not wanting much and i am sure i can live under the radar as they say, but the people who live there already, do you get bothered from officials wanting their little cut or am i seeing it all wrong

No.
We have just paid our yearly business and land taxes. Nobody asked for a little cut and it has been like that from the start.

I have on a couple of occasions helped a friend who directs traffic in Manila!

At least the Philippine news reports the corruption and everyone is aware that it exists.
