37 families receiving more than £26k each in benefits have aid cut
FOUR claimants in North Lincolnshire who were in receipt of more than £26,000-a-year in state hand-outs have started work after being told their benefits would be cut.
Initially the local authority targeted 61 households for the capping measures introduced last August – but only 37 have seen their benefits cut to the new £500-a-week maximum.
Of the 37 capped families, 21 live in social sector housing and 16 in private rented accommodation, mainly in Scunthorpe.
All but nine of the 37 households were in receipt of between £26,000 and £31,000 a year.
