Wonderful start to the day today, sun, clear skies and slightly warmer than it has been this time in the morning, let's hope the day remains like this!

Our hot start to the day gradually increased in intensity without any breeze.

Stuck in the house really as being Holy Week not much s actually open.

Just about to go out for an evening walk now that it's cooled off enough and a nice breeze has picked up.
It'll be dark by the time we get back.

    Most places close until Monday.
SM malls and GMalls will be open at sometime over the weekend, but I'll be developing strategies to keep my wife out of those.

I've now got 2 chickens and 6 chicks so need to think about building a 'house' for them. They're getting under our feet in the back garden.

I'll check out the local markets and see what materials I can get. I think in this heat it'll take some time to put together.

Hope the super-typhoon Chedeng will miss our small place in paradise

I was going to ask you for an update on the Typhoon Peter.

Chickens:...recommend you raise the coop off the ground at least 12 inches, plus fit it with wire mesh small enough to keep rats and (larger) snakes out. Half inch by half inch max. Avoid draughts by fitting 'solid' sides where the birds will sleep.

The higher the better. Bear in mind that these birds actually roost high up in trees when left to their own devices in the province.

    Thanks for the tips Graham

My dad raised lot of chickens but of course I never took the time to understand the details.

Ohh ... I wish ... ! Since retiring ... that used to be one of the first things I thought of doing on a beautiful morning like this.

Alas it's no longer safe - nor advisable for me to even as much as contemplate - due to worsening hearing difficulties in today's traffic conditions.

Been another great day today, went hunting for frog spawn but when I arrived at the place to find spawn I discovered I am a few days early because there were dozens of frogs busy spawning so I will try again in a few more days. I ended up cleaning all the windows inside and outside when I arrived home. Maritess was supposed to be having Mon/Tue/Wed off work this week cos she hasn't had a day off for weeks, but yesterday they called her in and today she's been called in and they have also given her a shift for tomorrow, so she has missed the nice weather!

Today is 34C with a 'realfeel' of 43C

    It's hot !!

As usual the late afternoon, evening and night prediction is for heavy rainstorms, but almost as usual that'll be another big prediction fail by the looks of it.

We haven't seen a good rain for ages and we badly need one.

Myrna is out giving ours its first cut of the season as I type.

... "Myrna? Why Myrna? Why not you?" I imagine you're all thinking.

Well, ... she maintains she's more careful than I am in skirting round her beloved plants.

's probably the case; but ... ... truth be told, I've got it down to a fine 'Art'!

... besides, she's younger than me.

Thankfully we've had a few really good downpours these past couple of days.
Very much needed here in Mindanao with a noticeable increase in river water levels.

With it comes some cooler conditions.

Have to say, a heavy downpour of rain here is really something. The lightning shows are spectacular.

Lovely evening here in Davao City.
Just been for a nice stroll together down to our local market.

Some great fresh seafoods for our evening meal and a big bunch of local bananas

    Another good forecast for tomorrow.
Although we still need a lot of rain.

Heard on the news that Nueva Ecija is also looking for some rain to top up water levels which have reached critical lows
