They prey on the vunerable Brian especially those who have a low credit score whose only means is to go to one of these parasite companies.

Personally I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole but easy for me to say that as I have a high credit rating.

I myself in times have used credit cards with a 0% balance transfer sometimes up to 2 and a half years, very useful only if you pay them back within the time period and a lot better than a bank loan as the transfer fee is on average less than 3%...

Lloyds have one with up to 3 years to pay back, interest free. There's no transfer fee on new accounts either. Seems to be more money being freed up It's looking like they've made an early sprint.

The government have the power to sweep these parasites back under the stones where they belong, but as usual will wait until crisis point is reached and umpteen thousands of lives ruined before doing so.

The same lack of responsibility was shown towards banks and building societies handing out 110% no-deposit mortgages, Payment 'Protection', etc.

It's easy to dismiss pay day loans--and other high interest loan shark-type operations--what happened to provident ?-----if you have a good steady income--money in the bank etc.

    I do

But--not always so. I remember being down to my last £1 coin--waiting for my wife's salary to go in.

But--it wasn't reckless spending--far from it. back in the day--I--along with 1,000's of others--had to resort to self-employed commission-only work--or the dole queue.

No steady salary--just endless waiting for a dribble of commission to filter through--sometimes not enough to pay my petrol. Welcome to my world

That's been the case for me these past 2 years now.
Though to be honest the pressure is as great as the one you describe as at least I have a couple of pensions each month.

I had no idea just what a tough environment that can be.....personally I've not found it getting easier despite the positive economic media reports.....in fact it feels the opposite.

Whether I'd succumb to the temptation of Pay-Days or not I couldn't promise.
I very much doubt it as I've been vehemently opposed to credit for years......I'm old enough to say never-say-never though.
