... much the same thing happened to me -
albeit away back in early 1969 - when my late
first wife was expecting
our daughter.
Luckily, at age 24

- when called into my manager's office on a bleak,
cold January morning (also a Monday) to be informed that my services would no longer be required following a MASSIVE, unwelcome
shake~up throughout the organisation I worked for - I
soon found alternative employment at a time when jobs were a great deal more plentiful.
You, on the
other hand, possess a
wealth of ex
perience - which, I'm reasonably confident, is
bound to be
invaluable in seeking a similar (if not better) opening in your specialist field of expertise. And/or being your own boss should the opportunity you mention come to
