    Hong Kong

From 21 March, the UK Visa Application Centre will be located at the Leighton Centre in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.

The move follows the outsourcing of the UK visa service in Hong Kong to VFS Global. VFS Global already successfully delivers UK visa services across Asia Pacific, including in mainland China.

The new Visa Application Centre in Hong Kong will provide greater convenience and choice to customers.

British Consul General to Hong Kong, Caroline Wilson, said:-

“The move to a commercial partner for visa applications will provide greater convenience and choice to our customers through extended opening hours and a range of premium services such as the new Passport Passback service which will be launched here in Hong Kong in April.”

The Passport Passback service will enable customers to keep their passport whilst a decision is being made on their application, allowing them to travel during this period.

An SMS application tracking service will also be available to customers.

There will be no change to the actual application process for customers and visa applications will continue to be sent to our visa decision making hub in Manila and assessed by UKVI staff.

There will be no change to processing times. We will continue to operate our successful 3-5 day priority visa service for non-settlement applicants and 10 day priority service for settlement applicants.

Customers should visit the VFS Global in Hong Kong website for information on how to apply for a UK visa in Hong Kong.

    Further information:-

    1. The new Visa Application Centre will be located at 15th Floor, Leighton Centre, 77 Leighton Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 08.00 to 15.00 (08.00 to 18.00 during the summer peak season).

    2. A new UK visa enquiry service will also be available from 1 April. It will be available to customers in Hong Kong during local working hours and offer a range of enquiry options including a free recorded service, a premium call service for those who wish to speak with a customer service officer, a web-chat service and a free email enquiry service.

UK Visa Application process in Italy

A number of applicants applying for a UK visa from Italy have not been able to make an appointment having completed their application. UK Visas & Immigration apologises for the inconvenience and concern that this has caused.

The Visa Application Centre at Via Antonio Pacinotti closed on Wednesday 12 March. The new centre under the management of a new commercial partner, Teleperformance Ltd, has now opened at Via Flaminia 135, 00196 Rome, Italy. New applicants can now book an appointment online at UK Visas & Immigration.

Please note that you will not be allowed to attend the visa application centre without a prior online appointment.

The issue with the appointment booking system has now been resolved, but if you have been unable to book an appointment, it will be necessary to make a new application. You can request a refund on your current application and make a fresh application at UK Visas & Immigration.

Please note that once you have booked your online appointment, you must also register on the Teleperformance website . Here you can also pay for additional services such as Premium Lounge, Priority Visa Service and Courier return of your documents. Please note that it is not possible to pay for these services at the visa application centre. They must be paid online before attending your appointment.

More details on the changes to the process below:

On 30 September 2013, UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), part of the Home Office, announced that the global contracts for UKVI’s Visa Application Centres overseas had been awarded to Teleperformance Ltd and VFS Global.

In Italy, Teleperformance Ltd has assumed responsibility for receiving UK visa applications.

The Teleperformance clinic will be located at:

    Via Flaminia 135
    00196 Rome

Appointments will be available at the Visa Application Centre Monday to Friday from 08.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

Applications will only be accepted where a prior appointment has been made online.

Once the UK visa application is submitted in Italy the completed applications, which will include all supporting documentation and the customer’s passport, will be forwarded to the decision making centre in the UK where they will be considered by Entry Clearance staff. Processing target times will remain unchanged and British Embassy and Teleperformance Ltd staff play no part in the decision making process.

The procurement of new contracts enables us to increase the number of application points globally and offer improved customer services. These contracts will offer the necessary flexibility to support current and future services and provide a world class customer experience, including through increasing our priority and premium services offerings and moving a number of our Visa Application Centres to more accessible locations.

Worldbridge will continue to manage the user pay phone and email enquiry service until 31 March 2014.

We will be providing our customers with further information on the changes to our visa operations and visa enquiry services through updates on the UKVI website over the coming weeks.
