.....A chilling statistic from a Retail Week survey yesterday was that 45% of 2,000 adults questioned thought that Tesco's prices had gone up in the last year.
Only 13% thought they had come down. Aldi and Lidl are likely to be laughing up their collective, nicely tailored German sleeves at that answer.
The question investors will be asking is "has Philip Clarke grasped the nettle" on the fundamentally changing retail market?...
funny you may think but i have not been into tesco since my divorce, my ex works there silly you may say, but i get better goods from where i shop now,every little helps they say

I've discovered today that their 'supersoft' tissues are not very soft......so complaints from my wife drove me to return to Waitrose to get replacements.
I doubt Tesco have really introduced any price war.........

Personally I like shopping at Morrisons, don't get me wrong I find some of their prices quite expensive compared to same products at pound shops so the reason I hit Morrissons is the BOGOF offers especially on the products we use most and can be stored and kept for a long time, like Tesco says "Every little helps"...
I agree. Tesco are a bunch of rip-off con-artists with their (ever-increasing) prices, and I might add, displaying the usual modern-day totally cynical attitude towards customers...who are now merely people to be manipulated, bamboozled and have money extracted from without care or conscience.
How about some 'fuel discount' for those of us who are helping the environment by cycling there ? !

We also shop regularly at Morrisons since it's the nearest in our place (there's Lidl too but Keith doesn't want to shop there, only if we have not seen what we want in Morrisons, which is very rarely though). But what makes us shop at Morrisons most of the time is because our guinea pigs seem to prefer the fresh veggies there. We do sometimes shop at Asda and Tesco but the veggies most of the times get wasted because the guinea pigs would not eat them and end up spoiling! Well, after living in this town since 1967, I've just had a look on google maps to see where my nearest Aldi store is.
Quite a long way away, BUT on the route of the FREE bus that stops outside my house.

Convenience is the watch word here. I'll be buggered if I'll drive out of my way at considerable expense to spite my nose. We are loyal to ourselves. We shop where we shop coz it suits us.
It just so happens Tesco stores are almost always handy wherever you are. This talk of saturation is absolutely nonsense. Also the talk of percentages is of equal rubbish. I'd rather pick up Tesco's supposed 66% profits than 100% of those 3rd division outfits.
