Halal meat.... Dead is dead. Regardless of how an animal dies for us to eat it, we are still killing it.

Most of the meat in the Philippines is not killed humanely, as defined in the EU, most just bleed to death while awake.

So any westerners worried about arrows and meat, should fly with another airline, and become a vegetarian while in the Phil to ensure that they have nothing to moan about.

Well said!.....i have seen a few pigs and chickens slaughtered in the Philippines only to turn up later as the main meal. Didn't worry me then and I doubt if it will in the future.

I don't mind how they kill the animal

Halal meat is for Muslims so I want to eat non Halal meat

Any Halal meat sold is the UK should state Clearly on the packaging that it is Halal

Supermarkets think the public don't mind or care.

    I strongly disagree

    Meat is meat.

Why do some people try to make a issue out of something that doesn't exist?

It's like some people calling UKIP racist because they mention the word "immigration"!

Would they be able to tell the difference by taste alone?

That would not be pleasant for the passengers as my daughter would probably use it as a dildo

I am flying with Philippine Airlines again in June and if I see that offending arrow informing me in which direction Mecca is I will summon the head of on-board services and inform them I want it removed

Easily done, either change channel or switch it off

It would be easier if they removed you at 36,000ft

There are usually two map options on new planes these days. One does not have the arrow. That's the way it was on Qatar anyway.

Wouldn't be surprised if forums like these weren't monitored by airlines when their name crops up to get some feedback. Could be that some passengers might be refused boarding if the airline thought they were going to make a fuss during the flight

I would think that Philippine Airlines customer service is a bit better than that

Of course they will want to prove that they cater for non muslims also

The customer is always right remember

After all--the great majority of filipinos are Catholic---so why not an arrow pointing to the Vatican--as well--to be on the safe side.

I used Philippine Airlines as didn't want a stop over with kids.

That's the only good thing the non stop. The rest was bad. Food was worst I have ever had on a plane. The plane was dirty - old food under seats - also smelly. 1 of my kids got a rash - we all were scatching from seats. No amenity kits, no kids meals. We ordered no drinks or snacks, the cabin crew were not that friendly towards us.

I won't be using them again - only my return to UK. I would sooner have stop overs and fly with a good airline.

Even Kuwait and Saudi are better than Phil Air.

Next time I will go with Thai, Singapore, Malaysian or Etihad

Sorry to read of your experience with PA, 5 x of us travelled over and back In April and everything was fine for us, good food, courteous staff, good in-flight entertainment only small complaint was the size of the seats....

I have used Philippine Airlines twice now and I find the service great

Stop overs for me are a waste of time and you can get delayed on those layovers

I dont miss falling in line for another security check at Hong Kong Airport either

Direct flights with Philippine Airlines can be had for less than £600 and for me that's a bargain!

These flight are proving popular anyway outbound and inbound were both 95% full (June)

Flights departed and arrived on time both ways

All airline food sucks anyway and Philippine Airlines food is not better or worse than the other airlines

I'm very surprised you had no complaints with the food, coming from the person who started this thread complaining about a little arrow on the tv screen. I would agree airline food is not great but I've managed to eat it on most airlines but not on Philippines. My wife does not want to fly them again anyway, she wants to use Thai or Singapore again...

I actually found the food on Philippine Airlines not that bad at all
I make sure I have a full English breakfast before I board any flight and then i don't get high blood when the choice of meal provided by the airline is not available "sorry sir we only have fish and noodles left"

I normally take a goody bag with me anyway Pringles jaffa cakes and more chocolate

Never board a long haul flight hungry and take your own supplies......

Why would your wife want to waste her time in Bangkok or Singapore when she can fly directly?

    Yuk....thanks for letting us know.

Don't think I could bear sitting on a plane for more than 8 hours or so without a break anyway.

Booked with them for July. I usually go Cathay because I love their service but decided to give PAL a go just to see. Perhaps I shouldn't have bothered
