    Hi Mrs. Daddy!
i was also interviewed in a jobcentre 30 miles away from our home. i asked the lady i talked with on the phone and she said the centre near us doesn't conduct interview. so, good luck to your interview. it's not really hard. they will ask you about your addresses, your names (single/married), your husband's work, birthday, your holidays, etc.
    Good luck!

Hiya mrs daddy! they didn't ask me if i need interpreter. i've been practicing my british accent very hardly since i've been here so i think the woman i talk with on the phone realized that. hehe. it's funny coz most british customers i talk with in the store where im working think i can understand them properly. sometimes i just smile, say ok, yeah...hehe.naughty. that is only when they're talking about their life that i'm not concerned about. but oopps, don't do this on your interview.
if it's important information you have to ask them to repeat it.

by the way, don't forget to bring everything that they told you to bring. if they won't send you a letter, you must provide proof of address. Good luck again!

yeah it's ridiculous. they just want to make our life hard. what's the use of those jobcentres in our town. but you need them so you have no choice.

This is because the jobcentreplus organisation is run for the benefit of its staff, not for the people who use this service. You see Government cutbacks/reorganisation have resulted in this messy system. In the UK, if something is not making money or is not viable, it will be closed, no matter how valuable the service might be, or how much it will inconvenience the user of the service.

I'm currently on JobSeekers Allowance, and my claim was done over the telephone, but I had to go to the nearest jobcentreplus for an interview, then an office 80 miles away decides on the claim. Oh, yes the letters I get about my claim get sent out from Belfast?!
