    English English

    Hi all,

Pinoys understand american english as the norm, so I was wondering if anyone can help translate some english words that I have come across but have not idea what it means. Here are some example:

    scouser
    plonker

Apologies if this has been discussed in the past, I've only back read back to August.

    Luis

a plonker i don't think i can say what it describes as this is a family website. Lets just say blokes have one and ladies don't.

But normally used as an insult, meaning someones a bit of an idiot.

plonker is more of a southern insult i think, as used in fools and horses, not many Mancs ever used it. we just call people scousers instead

As we are talking about English English, here's a poser for you all.

When my beloved Oldham Athletic lose a match (On an all too frequent basis this season) - I say something like:

'Well, goodness me, what jolly awful luck the chaps are having at the moment.'

Actually, I don't QUITE say it in those words.

Who can get nearer to the true expression I expound?

    Al.

"Well we played well, had the ball most of the match, and had a number of chances to score. Losing is not important, as long as we have a good game! Even though we are bottom of the league, we expect to be top by Christmas if we continue to play like this"

..........Oh sorry Alan......what you say...not the manager

    * Scouser (Scouse) > Clart noggin (Yorkshire) > Scooser (Scottie) > Scousah. Heavens above! How smashing! (Jolly Well Spoken).

    * Plonker/ Berk (Scouse) > Grummy (Brummie) > Radge (Scottie) > Well I say - duffah (Jolly Well Spoken).

*Bloody knackered > Bloohming knackered. Heavens above! How smashing! (Jolly Well Spoken) > Bloody Cream Crackered (Cockney Rhyming Slang) > Blewdy Clocked (Scouse).
Not an expert, I only try to help.
