Ajusting to her special meal

A Discussion about the joys of arriving home to that wonderful smell of her special meal.

Perhaps some of you will join me in lamenting on those days when you rush home to your new babae from the far east only to find she has cooked one of her speciality meals.

The smell of her smoked dried fish is enough to send you into suicide, and then when she adds vinegar, and Thai fragrant rice to the meal, oh the smell is even worse.

But how about it when she cooks squid, urrrrrrgh, and have you come back to smell Bagoong, with Datu Puti vinegars....

It has become so bad, that I actually pay my babae to not cook her special meal, or I ask her to cook it 2 hours before I get home, eat it, and then spray our home with air fresheners to eradicate the problem, how do you find this ?

I just go out and jog or watch football i have got quite fit and watched far more games so im not complaining.

Its the neighbours who im sure notice it more as with out any warning the smell creeps in though the highly advanced air extraction system i had fitted kicks in blasting all the vinegar fumes towards there noses at high speed

Also luckily my wife has phill only households she can go cook up a storm in within walking distance.

being a veggy, i'm at some of the things my wife eats and filipino's, pig on a stick, fish with the head still on, and its eyes starring at you , the horrible drink that near killed me, sorry i cannot remember its name, but it was suppose to be i think cherry and it had black jelly like balls in the bottom ?? i was sick for days and the horrible onion tasting ice cream, i never tasted anything so bad , i'm a bit lucky here now, she doesn't go to the pinoy shop anymore , so it saves money and yuck food, but rice and meat is all she lives off now.. i can live with that

If western hubby or BF finds that some of our specialty meals smell worse, we also find some food in the west are smelly, too, example some cheese smells worse than bagoong, curries and etc...
I know my fiance did not like the smell of bagoong so what I did I cook my specialty meal when he is at the office. Of course do not forget to switch the exhaust fan, when cooking, then get a basin and filled it with water and few drops of zonrox or bleach then soak the cleaning cloth into it and squeeze then wipe all the kitchen counter and the stove. The bleach is a deodorizer. If still can not get rid off the smell, get a small pot put a glass of water put a few drops of fabric softener and let it boil for few minutes am sure your house will smells lovely, by the way, you can use a mixture of dried herbal leaves such as, thyme, oregano, basil, just a pintch of each.

I am very lucky when it comes to this, coz the love of my life never bothers what I am cooking for my meal. I am even allowed to eat using my hands while I am eating these kind of stuff.

Oooh! I just cooked dried fish last night IN MY BACK GARDEN using our portable camping stove as I didn't want our house smell like those stinking yummy dried fish, just hate it when the smell get stuck on my clothes, hair and skin..

Luckily my neighbours didn't throw anything at me while cooking the dried fish.

I never tried to cook dried fish when I was in England, as I know a lot of people do not like the smell, especially if you are the new lady in the village, Im sure nobody wants to be known as " she`s the new lady in the village who cooks smelly dried firsh".
For all the new lady in the village out there,Bridget have another tips; if you really miss the dried fish, you can find Peppered Mackerel in Tesco. Its in the frozen section. It boneless, taste like daing or tinapa (dried fish) but doesnt smell like dreid fish.Just squeeze a lemon on it then put in the oven or grilled it.
And for those fiancee here in the Philippines, I will suggest to bring your fiance to the Buffet Restaurants, so that he will see all our specialties, he can try them and you will have an idea what he wants and what he doesnt. You should not be hesitate to discuss to him about foods, honestly some men are very fussy, western men doesnt want fish with head as they say the eyes is starring at him,and etc.
I think also the best way is to learn to adapt the western food, eat potatoe instead of rice.
Im glad I did nt have a problem with my fiance regarding the food or the foods I serve, except that when I ask him to cook for us , he always says that I will end up in the hospital if he will cook our food. Well, I hope he will learn to cook.

oh speaking of rice in the morning, we did that before, fried rice and longganisa or pork sausages and sunny side up eggs, but my fiance gain more weights so I decided to stop it. Otherwise, I won`t stop pushing him to go out for a bikeride or jogging.

When my husband was here, We had dinner at the barbeque haus, I was surprised when he used his hands when he ate. I thought he will asked fork and knife. My hubby eats rice, he likes when I cook chicken adobo.. he said all the filipino dishes that i cooked he likes it...

Chicken Adobo, I think thats should be our national dish. I think thats one of the popular filipino dish.
