The IELTS test has four parts – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Candidates must do all four parts to receive an IELTS result. The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

IELTS is available in two test formats: Academic or General Training. All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking modules but different Reading and Writing modules. Listening, Reading and Writing must be completed in one day. The Speaking test may be offered on the same day or up to a week before or after the other parts.
For your wife's spousal visa, she can choose to take the GENERAL, as most people say that it is more easier than the ACADEMIC. The academic module is only for student/working visas as far as I know of...

CEFR Level B1 = IELTS Band Score3.5-4.5
CEFR Level B2 = IELTS Band Score 5.0-6.0
CEFR Level C1 = IELTS Band Score 6.5-7.0
CEFR Level C2 = IELTS Band Score 7.5-9.0

IELTS doesn't get officially scored at any CEFR level below B1
Hence UKVI will only accept score 4.0 minimum in Speaking and Listening. Scores in Reading and Writing are disregarded by UKVI anyway.
