    Cornwall short break

It is always photos of holidays outside UK specifically in the Philippines that I always see here, so I am posting this short break that hubby and I recently took. Additional 800 on his car mileage is all worth it. We went to Saint Ives, Mousehole and my favourite, Land's End!!! I love the sea! Although the sea water was too cold, 10-11 degrees Celsius, that didn't stop me from swimming! not for very long though!! I couldn't let it just pass without swimming in a cold water, this is a true blue Pinay, we're used to cold showers! but not that cold!!! It was so cold that it was just 4 of us swimming in the sea out of a hundred

Y'know I've never been to Cornwall ... and remember mentioning this to my friends - and fellow members - Steve & Emma Woolley when they also posted their photos of that area some time ago.

However, I did visit another St Ives!
................................ one was in Cambridgeshire, though ... the 'start and finish' points for a boating holiday my late first wife and [then] teenage children, had on the Fens Waterways back in summer 1989

Thanks for sharing, it is a beautiful place. Been there many times as we never lived too far away. Brings back happy memories from my childhood too.

Arthur Little, you should deffo go to Cornwall!! I was amazed that you also have turquoise water here!! hahaha! my husband was shocked as well!! hahaha!!

Stevewool, ofc I had to go and swim! That is what seas are for?!!! I was a bit challenged by this old couple who also stayed in the same B&B and was proud to tell them that we swam in that cold sea!!

Michael Parnham, it is by far my favourite place in the UK too!! Great beaches, quaint cafes and shops!! Lots of art exhibitions too!!

Jake, it is cold as per my Filipina standards hahahaha!! I should have brought my dry suit because my 5mm wet suit wouldn't suffice!!!

Steve.r, yes Cornwall brings back hubby's childhood memories too!!

Grahamw48, thank you! I know hubby and I makes a handsome couple, oh tell me something I don't know!! hahaha

Terpe, I WAS a typical Asian who takes a lot of pictures of anything and everything, I shrugged that habit off 2 years ago when my DSLR camera got stolen. Hubby bought me a canon g12 but I couldn't be bothered taking it when we travel. Those photos were just taken by my 2.5 year old iphone (who is screaming for some serious help--REST). The weather was perfect but the wind surfers were moaning about it as there were no wind that time hahaha!!

Great photos and thanks for posting

The sea temperatures around the UK coast can’t compare with the 30 degrees or so in the Philippines of course !

But now it’s around 18 off the coast of Cornwall, 15 here at sunny Scarborough ( England’s east coast ), 14 around the Hebrides of Scotland, and even off the north Scottish coast it’s at least 12 - with good surfing conditions. Thanks to the Gulf Stream and modern wetsuits !

Best wishes for a safe trip back to the Philippines next week !

Yes, even off the tiny Hebridean island of Iona - on the west coast of Scotland - the sea water gives all the appearance of being a sort of greenish~turquoise shade.

You may not be aware of this, Filipina Diver ... but, historically, Iona is where the Irish monk, Columba (later Saint Columba) landed ... ... quite by chance, I believe, when he brought Christianity to in the year 563 AD!
