Great pictures Alan. Scarborough is only 30 minutes away from me but I have only been there a handful of times.

Thanks everyone - so it WAS worth the insomnia

Sunrise here is about 4.30 am !

( All my photos these days are taken with a " compact/ point and shoot " camera - Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ40, 18 megapixels, 20X optical zoom. It has WiFi and NFC/one-touch connectivity, GPS, touch screen, and automatic or a range of other settings - all for under £ 250 including case and spare battery. 20X zoom is the maximum I can use without a tripod. I don't edit my photos, but I do take about 10 for every one saved. )

    Some really lovely photos Alan

You're so lucky to be living next to the ocean and in such a nice part of the world.

    Well worth the effort

Thanks again for your appreciation - definitely made the early morning start worthwhile

What I didn't photograph - or join - were the " skinny dippers " in the sea after a night's clubbing

Whitby is a pretty, but sleepy little place compared with Scarborough.

Much easier to find somewhere to park in Scarborough too.

I like Bridlington. Lovely big beaches and quite compact for walking around. Worth a visit.

I'd often go to all three in the same day, with my work.
