Won't be too soon either!
Aww ... you're all you folks; that 's someone's granny!
C'mon guys, you know me - was said [partially] 'tongue in cheek', as a - vis-a-vis the fact that she's a granny.
Whilst this woman's actions should, in no way, be allowed to go unpunished ... ... I do advocate her life be spared in exchange for information leading to the arrest of the greedy, evil basrds who used her services as a drugs mule - as opposed to "shooting the messenger" ... literally!
Dealers and traffickers are the cause of crime, misery and death.
I firmly believe in the Singapore standpoint - if they have more than a few grammes then tough luck pal its a mandatory death sentence
Better to kill a Granny than a young person
Presumably proponents of an ancient controversial [British] law - whereby all who participate in a criminal act must necessarily accept joint responsibility for their share of guilt (due to their involvement in it) regardless of whether or not they're the main perpetrators - would concur.
Known appropriately as Joint Enterprise, I queried its principles in a recent thread of mine, under the title:
Did Anyone Watch? ...
... following a rather disturbing Sunday evening TV programme in which the aforementioned ruling was applied.
So ... based on this premise, Les - whether or disagree - I take your point.
It's all very easy for us to make our views about this known but this lady also has a family and they will be suffering greatly. I am not condoning in any way what she done and smuggling drugs DOES kill people whichever way you slice it but she IS British and the Indonesian Government should at least let her serve time rather than killing her. Not for her but for her family.
Maybe she should have thought of her family before she did it. The way I look at it is if she supplied drugs which found their way somehow to my kids and one of them died - I would sort her out myself.
It's the deterrent factor, she was old enough to know the risks and the law in that country.
As for being British we should dis-own her.
I'm sure she knew the risks she was taking when she carried the drugs, 'don't do the crime if you can't do the time'....
Never have been a fan of the death penalty - but, oh well, life goes on...
Her family is her responsibility, not those of the justice system. She made her choice, and now she has to live with it ..... until she is shot that is

I don't really agree with the taking of a human life and am glad it no longer happens in this country. However, the lady concerned must have been aware of the penalty in that country for trafficking. If you visit a country then you should be bound by the rules there with no exception. Maybe she is a grandmother, but even with all those years behind her is obviously incredibly stupid to think she would get off with anything less. The facts are the country has the death penalty, even if some of us don't like that. IMHO the Indonesians are completely justified in punishing her with her life. Although a loss and hard for her family I am sure they will think twice before doing anything similar and it will also act as a deterrent to other foreigners hoping to make quick money out of other peoples addictions.
Yes Lordna, it's the deterrent factor.
Also why do they keep referring to her as a grandmother.
To gain sympathy?
Execution would also be a strong deterrent in this country and we should bring back the rope as both mandatory and non mandatory sentence for crimes such as terrorism, murder, treason, drug dealing/trafficking etc
Ian Huntley would be my first choice.
Killer of Holly and Jessica.
I would volunteer to press the switch without hesitation.
Swiftly followed by
Muslim filth who killed Pvte Rigby
Ian Brady
Rose West
Roy Whiting
Peter Sutcliffe
Levi Belfield
Caught with £1.6 million worth of drugs there can be no doubt of her guilt. Roll on the 29th August when her appeal options expire
