I'm going to apply for spouse visa next week, is it ok to pass the scanned passport of my wife because the original passport is with her?

You have to supply her original passport as that is where the visa is placed if approved.

The applicant must submit current valid passport for the visa.
The sponsor's passport bio page (plus any needed additional pages) can be photocopy/scanned.
