You could buy a nice old classic for 3 grand....increasing in value, and cheap classic car insurance. REALLY cheap for limited mileage (5,000 a year would be fine for that). Maybe £100 a year or less for you, fully comp...but has to be a second car.

I have even thought about this Graham, but living in a terrace house with on street parking sometimes a few doors from your front door, I would be too afraid to leave it on the street
