Fastest time to Manila from Heathrow !

Just had my fastest flight to Manila from Heathrow this month only 12 1/2 hours I didn't think that was possible !!

Cost was only £735 return, very happy with that and managed to get upgraded to Business Class on the return leg for $500 (£310) though that flight was 15 hours.

Did it bypass The Ukraine? I hear some airlines are still using that corridor, KLM for one.

    Which airline...PAL ?

I'd considered a direct flight this time, but 12 hours + on a plane without a break, didn't think I'd enjoy that at all.

Oh, and is gm47 the 'oldest' member on this board ?

    2004.

This almost requires the opening of a bottle of bubbly.

12 hours+ is easy honestly. 15 hours straight was easy too but that was Business Class.

TBH, whichever way you go you will probably spend 12 hours on the main leg, i.e via Hong Kong or Amsterdam. Yes, there are some, I believe, where the split is easier. Personally I would always go the direct route if possible. At the moment only PAL do it LHR to MNL.

Maybe I am an older member since I joined a long time ago, I just don't post much

Flying direct must be great. When I went I had 4 flights - total 19hrs.

So was the cost £735 + £310? or £735 altogether.

I found flying direct to MNL was fine... though the return leg killed me....

I think the OP is meaning he paid £735 plus £310 for the upgrade (they have the upgrade on the boards when you check in)

Yes Chino I'm sure he means upgrade cost on top of Economy.

Well I've bitten the bullet anyway and already booked for November with Emirates again...not wanting to go all the way to London to fly.

I wish someone would fly direct from Manchester....or even better...York.

I've flown from Leeds several times Les, (KLM) but to be honest it's nearly as quick to get on the Manchester train at York ... and one less plane change.

I agree Steve, and for us Yorkies it's just a matter of walking down the road and getting on a (quite cheap) train which goes direct to the airport.

Yes, you are right only £735 return Economy, I believe that is the cheapest I have paid since I have been travelling to Manila in the 10 past years.

The £310 extra was as Chino said; it was on the boards at check in. I had already paid an extra £50 for an exit seat but when I saw that offer I had to take it

    .
That's a very quick time. You'd be lucky to get anywhere near that again.

12 hours 10 minutes for me on the outward journey - which was a thoroughly pleasant flight. Although, the return was a pig of a flight - not helped by the fact we had to circle Essex for well over an hour before landing.

They seem to have changed planes for the return. The plane was smaller, seemed quite old and I noticed one or two old signs in French. It was so old that they were handing out IPads to anyone who wanted to watch a film as there were no built-in screens.
