    I took my young lady there (AC) for one day earlier this year when I was visiting some old expat friends.

    Had a stroll up and down Fields and Perimeter.

    She was in shock.

    You can't walk down Fields without at least one person trying to sell it. Never tried Viagara yet, genuine or fake.

    Effect lasts for 36 hours so I have been told, very expensive though as they are still patent protected.

    I'll give a serious response as this is the " Health Issues " section.

    " Britain ( is ) braced for a bargain " Viagra " boom " because generic versions of the drug have drastically reduced its cost.

    Every medicine ( drug ) has a generic name for the active ingredient. It often also has one or more brand ( trade ) names.

    Most prescribed drugs in the UK are generic, allowing any suitable product to be dispensed, saving delay to the patient and expense to the health service. In the first few years after a drug is available it’s usually marketed as a brand, protected by patent ( exclusive right ), allowing the pharmaceutical company to make a profit.

    In the Philippines many drugs sold are branded. The public and also doctors may be suspicious of generic drugs ( despite the Generic Drugs Act of 1988 ). Counterfeit drugs are a growing global threat. Antibiotics, cancer drugs, and " Viagra " are all culprits. Counterfeit confiscated " Viagra " has contained blue printer ink, other dyes, amphetamine, and metronidazole ( antibiotic ), among others .

    The patent on " Viagra " expired over a year ago in the UK. Until August 1 this year, erectile dysfunction ( ED ) / impotence treatments were restricted on NHS prescription. Only patients with underlying health conditions causing ED, such as diabetes, kidney and prostate disease, heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, and pelvic injury / surgery, could have NHS treatment. A major reason was the cost.

    ED is common, especially in older men. Perhaps half between the ages of 40 – 70 have some degree of ED.

    Other indications for treating ED may include :-

    • significant disruption to normal social and occupational activities ;

    • marked effect on mood, behaviour, social and environmental awareness ;

    • marked effect on interpersonal relationships.

    There’s an overlap between them and " lifestyle / recreational " reasons.

    Until this month, the only way to get " Viagra " was through private prescription – or without prescription on the internet and elsewhere ( illegal and unsafe - even if genuine, the drug may have serious side-effects ). Possible side-effects include :-

    • Relatively common – indigestion, nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, muscle pain, back pain, and visual disturbances.

    • Less common – painful red eyes, palpitations, raised / lowered blood pressure, angina, heart attack, reaction with other drugs.

    Other, similar, drugs such as " Cialis " are still not out of patent, and relatively expensive, although they may have less / or different side-effects to " Viagra ". These other drugs will continue to be restricted.

    Of course in the Philippines " Viagra " is also readily available – from sources varying greatly in reliability as well as expense. The apparently genuine branded version is available for around P 2,000 ( 4 X 25 mg ) or P3,300 ( 4 X 100 mg ) ; others like " Cialis " are around P750 ( 1 X 20 mg tablet ) ( 2013 prices in " MIMS Philippines " ).

    In the UK, cost is not now such a barrier to ED investigation and treatment. As it may be a sign of underlying health problems, it’s good that " Viagra " is to be more widely available on the NHS .

    Hopefully this will encourage more men to visit their GPs. Overall NHS expenditure on ED is expected to fall.

    Thanks Doc Alan.

    Hopefully we'll all have a good grasp, now it has been raised again.

    Tried it once and it gave me a slight headache and it never improved my performance

    I suppose only people who have problems in that department should use it
