    Tattoos

I know there are a few on here that has them and I am not sure if many of the ladies have them but I was asking Em would she like one. Her answer was, "I dont think so".

Some tattoos do look nice and some dont. I am not sure about having pictures of your partner or kids on your body, but Ems said she would not mind that, what do you think?

    That looks weird!

I'm against it as it seems once people start they add more and more.
Saw a woman the other day with them all over her legs - disgusting mess.

They're known as 'tramp stamps' for a reason...sorry.

I also hate body piercings and stuff through noses, etc. Yuk.

    It's a trick photo boys.

I am not keen on tattoos either but each to their own.

Years ago, I had my ear pierced, I think it was a trendy thing, but soon outgrew that!

, Steve ... a former girlfriend of mine sported a very prominent tattoo just above her cleavage.

Didn't bother me ... ... particularly. ... but when I showed a photo of her to my mother (who hadn't ever met her!) my Mum's first reaction was like: "Ugh! ... she looks a right cheap tart!

Ah ... the (then) older generation < > circa 1997.

I am thinking of adding to mine, maybe try to complete my back.

But I don't see why so many of you are against tattoos, seems you haven't moved with the times and think only of the 'tramp stamp'

Below are examples of how good tattoos can be, I dare anyone to call these 'tramp stamps'

and check out this guys work, it is incredible: http://www.victorportugal.com/#!tattoos/c1x9v

I must admit, it is a very impressive form of art and some of it is really amazing, it takes a special type of person to wear this kind of art, but not for me I'm afraid!

    Tramp Stamps (never dare me)

Seriously, they are amazing tho' Steve but I still think you can't beat a sun kissed bronzed female body.

I love this kind of art but prefer to see it on a wall

Regarding the other little tattoo's most people have - they simply look crap - no art in them, most of 'em from up hen nights in Blackpool

They can be very artistic but unfortunately human skin fares less well over the years than the canvases painted on by the old masters

I don't like to think that they are for everyone, but good quality pieces of art done tastefully are great. I think there are big divides between the people who go to a quality artist and those who go to their local 'scratcher' for £15 a pop or get some trash done while drunk in Ibiza. Unfortunately, those who get rubbish tattoos are the same ones who wear tighter clothes than they should do and are the ones that have to be wiped off the street every Friday and Saturday nights. Different class of people if you know what I mean

Each to their own. I do get henna tattoo whenever we go to Boracay or Puerto Galera. But it only lasts max 2 weeks. It's not that I don't like tattoos, I'm just avoiding the issue of regretting it in the future, hence just having henna when I feel I like one. Although I won't judge anyone just because they have tattoos. My cousin's husband has lots of tattoos, but he's a good guy and very shy type, doesn't even drink and my brother and cousins can't even force him to. I would rather have a good guy with a few tattoos than have a good guy who smokes and drinks a lot. Good thing Keith has stopped that many years ago, or else, I won't even last a day with him.

    Interesting story....

Most Tattooed Woman – Julia Gnuse

Julia Gnuse was born in 1959 and lived a pretty ordinary life until she was thirty five. At that point she started getting very uncomfortable points on her skin which started to scar her in a very ugly way. Trips after trips to the doctors, it was eventually discovered that Julia had developed porphyria. This is an incredibly uncommon skin condition that can be inherited from a parent or just spontaneously develop. One of the most uncomfortable symptoms of her condition was that Julia’s skin had become ridiculously sensitive – to the point that she could not go outside without her skin blistering right in front of her eyes.

Julia was in good company. Famous people that have had porphyria include many members of royal houses because they were all inter-related, it was passed genetically from generation to generation. King George III certainly had it, and it had been suggested that Mary, Queen of Scots also had it. Vincent van Gogh may have had it as well – although sadly the treatment for porphyria has not really improved much since his time. Julia began to become desperate to find a way to be able to go outside without being in pain. There was actually very little that her doctors could do, as the only medicine that was currently on the market had the slightly unwelcome side effect of making her lose her sight. Faced with the choice of complete body scarring or blindness, she turned to her next major problem: trying to cover up the scarring that she was getting more and more embarrassed about. Julia turned to her friends, and one of them – a plastic surgeon – suggested that she tried tattooing as a way to cover up the parts of her skin that she did not like. One tattoo on her leg was enough to get her hooked. Julia covered her entire legs with tattoos, and then moved up to her arms, stomach, and back. Now over 95% of her body is covered in tattoos – including her face – and she is known as The Illustrated Lady.

Her tattoos have taken more than five years to create, were all created by the same artist, and had cost Julia more than $80,000. Incredibly, the tattoos do not actually protect her from the sun’s hurtful rays, and so blistering still occurs – but now the scarring is covered up by tattoos. Some of the blisters have been measured as being equivalent to third degree burns, which are incredibly painful, but now Julia still has something to smile about every time she goes out of the door. Julia has now entered the Guinness World Records for being the most tattooed woman in the world.
