    Political Threads

I think many on here are sick of 'em! I'm definitely one of the guilty parties

How about this for a suggestion - for all the rest of the month not one thread is started on politics

I had loads of stuff to do yesterday and when I realised all I had been doing was argue with Joe most of the evening, it brought it home that I could have done something useful instead.

The guilty ones -including me - have to make an effort to put more humorous, fun, interesting stuff up for the rest of the month.

    I'm up for it,anyone agree?

    I agree.

Pointless ME getting into such discussions anyway, because I'm always right.

Arguing with Joe is not a waste of time. He lives in Manchester where the streets are dangerous, and so as you are keeping him in his house waiting for your posts Les, you are protecting his safety.

So no more mention of politics for the rest of this month. GOOD.

They do have a hisTORY of getting out of hand. And most of the posts originate from a UK IP address. The good news is that the forum has helped people get in the LABOUR market in the past. Political arguing has put my Vietnamese friend off signing up here, LI BDEM.

    A last political comment:
Our Isle of Wight MP is a Tory, I saw this morning his next door neighbour has a UKIP poster up

Well in all fairness, if my neighbour was a politician, I'd put up a poster of the opposite party just to annoy him.

I'd on the other hand be very happy to be living next door to a politician, because it would be a sign that I'd really "made it", that I could afford to live in a beautiful area far from crime, far from bad schools, far from council estates............you know, far from people who actually have to live amongst the results of the policies these 's put in place

My Aunt lived next door to the Labour MP for Pontefract for many many years (until he died) in the adjoining privately owned 3 bed semi.

...Which also brings to mind the Lady Mayoress of the same town, who lived in one of the council properties near us.
She could often be seen walking up to the local shop still in her dressing gown and slippers...curlers in her hair. Looked just like Hilda Ogden.

My (slightly snobby) mother used to make some funny comments at the time.
